Introduction: About Us: Founded and still owned by John Hernandez of Lansing, Grand Limousine drove its first passenger in May 1987. What is Hernandez's reason for getting into the business? After 17 years as a Motor Wheel security guard, he was informed that he was to be laid off. Checking the want ads, he found a gentleman looking for a partner with whom he could start a limo company. When Hernandez found out that what the guy really wanted was an investor, Hernandez decided to invest in himself, and a short time later, Grand Limousine was on the road. Early on, it was a struggle. Hernandez explains that when he'd looked in the Yellow Pages prior to making the decision, there were only one or two limo services. The next thing he knew, there were 14 to 16 services in the area. Worse yet, it was too late to be in the phone book, so he spent much of his first year in business rounding up people at bars who needed a ride home. He drove from 9:00 at night until 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. Fast forward for 28 years and Grand Limousine has vehicles to fit any occasio, such as wedding, prom, sporting event, concert, night on the town, bachelor party, Valentine's Day, and New Year's Eve.
