I hired John and Gregg from J & G Contracting to put additional heat in a sunroom plus I had no idea how to get more heat from my registers and they put the fans in the duct work and a cold air return. It was a matter of telling them what you needed and they came up with a number of ideas. I hired someone else to do new stairs and they did a terrible job putting them in so J & G completed that job for me. I am so pleased with not only their work ethics but the clean up was amazing. I highly recommend them and trust me you won't be sorry. I have already given my son their name and he is going to be calling them for work. they absolutely exceeded my expectations. great Job guys!!!!!! I'd give you 10 stars if I could.

Hired on Thumbtack

We hired these contractors to paint our home which has aluminum siding, our shed which is wooden, put in new basement Windows and install a privacy fence. At the beginning they were cordial and seemed to know what we were asking for, even though they did not write it down. They of course we're good at communicating in order to get the work. Well they did not quote the job right from the get go. They had to be told to add the cost of paint into the job, as well as cost of installing a privacy fence. it took three times before the quote was right before they could start the work. When they began the job I specifically asked them if they were using some kind of adhesive in the paint like E-bond in order for the paint to adhere to the aluminum. They said they'd never done that before and it didn't need it. After two coats of paint, I pointed out to them the old color was bleeding through. They admitted that it was after a thorough walk through and would do a third coat in the spring. I reiterated I would not pay for a third coat since they should know how much it takes to cover a home our size with aluminum siding. They said they'd still come back & make it right. Then they put up the fence and did not put any secure latches on the gates in order to keep them closed. They put two pieces of rebar running vertical into the dirt. The other gate they installed in the dark! That gate is up by our home & instead of digging a post hole which was also what we asked for and quoted, they screwed a 2x4 into our home and hung the gate from that! Some of the scenes protrude through the aluminum in some places, not in others and there are all these sharp ends of the screws on both sides of the gate which is a huge liability for us! We've contacted them several times and they do not return calls. They were rude to my neighbor, messy painters, splattering paint on my neighbors fence and being very rude to him when he kindly asked them to please take care to clean it up. Well I had to do it because they did not! They are extremely unprofessional and they will never get a recommendation from us, We've contacted the BBB & attorney generals office. They prey on people without question. They clearly do not have customer service skills nor do they care how they leave a job. Drinking alcohol on the job and leaving beer cans n our yard is far from what I call professional. I'd like to post pictures so anyone who is looking for a professional knows not to hire them. Unfortinately there is no where for me to do that. Our advice is save yourself the money, time and trouble.
J&G Contracting's reply
Dear Rita, We are truly sorry that you are not happy with the work that was clearly quoted and agreed to. To be fair, the reason we needed more paint was for your big shed that we painted and replaced rotted wood for free. We truly had a hard time pleasing you with anything Rita. You would say one thing to our faces, then threaten us with lawyers in your emails. Speaking of threats, you know that we were confronted by your disgruntle next door neighbor(Paul in the grey house) several times while were trying to do our work for you. He clearly has an axe to grind. In closing this reply, we apologize again and hope that you enjoy your beautifully painted house and professional cedar fence and I would also encourage you to have our work(at your house-311 Lillian Ave. Syracuse, NY) evaluated by "Home Headquarters",where you received your grant to pay for this job. Sincerely, J&G

Hired on Thumbtack

John was hired to cut down some trees/limbs at my business. He gave a fair price and a quick turnaround. That is the only positive thing I can say. The job took longer than they thought. Greg tried to back out of the contract, insisting WE finish the work we hired them to do. On December 24,2015 I paid them in full, on John's promise that they would finish the job that day (I had to leave to go out of town). They did NOT finish the job. I accepted their reason that their chainsaw was not working. After several attempts to reach them, they still have NOT finished the job almost 4 months later. There are large tree trunks laying in the yard of my business, as well as a pile of brush. We are attempting to chop some of the wood ourselves. However the issue here is that we are left to finish work that we have already paid them to do. Bottom line - your business reputation relies on delivering the promised goods.
