Charles G Monnett III graduated in 1983 with a Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Law, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Randall J Phillips graduated in 1994 with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Knoxville, Tennessee. Lauren O Newton graduated in 2009 with a Juris Doctorate from University of North Carolina School of Law, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We successfully represented the Jonathan Ferrell family in his wrongful death case against the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department that resulted in the largest settlement in the history of the Department. We also just won a verdict for an infant who was misdiagnosed by an area hospital that resulted in $13 million settlement.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure to ask questions: What area of law do you specialize in? Do you handle cases like mine? How many personal injury cases have you taken to trial? What is your track record on winning those cases? Are you a recognized authority in cases such as mine? How long does a case like mine typically last until resolution? How often will you communicate with me about my case? If I don't settle with the insurance company, will your firm take the case to trial? May I have references from some of your clients? Have you ever been suspended during your time practicing law? If so, when and why? What is your contingency fee?
