FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first job was a busser in a small town in Florida and one of the regular customers that I knew well asked me if I'd be interested in house-sitting for them. I took the job and I really enjoyed it. They recommended me to their friends and neighbors and from there it turned into a part-time job.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Checking the mail, cleaning the house, taking out the trash, watering plants, walking the dog, letting the cat out and back in, cleaning the cat's litterbox, feeding the pets (turtles, dogs, cats, fish), cleaning the pool.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
One issue that I've heard from my previous customers is that they had problems with their house-sitters throwing parties or inviting random people over into their home and things being stolen or broken. I do not think this is not a good practice for someone in this business because it's taking advantage of your trust and it puts you at risk. Just be careful who you choose to trust in your home and keep their age and relationship status in mind.
