About
I offer guitar instruction for children and adults. For children I utilize the Suzuki Method, which is designed to come alongside the parent in their work to educate and nurture. I am a Suzuki Association registered teacher with a BA in Music, and State of Alaska Teaching Certificate (K-8) Interested parents should contact the studio with the intent to set up a free consultation session. Interested in the learning about the Suzuki Method? Please visit my website or that of the Suzuki Association! For Adults I use a more flexible and eclectic approach. Lessons (including curriculum planning and methods of teaching) are catered toward and individual learners needs, specifically with an adult learner's needs in mind.

My daughter just had her first guitar lesson with Mr. Sarafin and he is a very insightful teacher. I think she's going to learn a lot and have a great experience doing it. He challenged her and challenged her appropriately. Looking forward to having him for a teacher for a good long time.

Paul is so kind and very knowledgeable about guitar performance and pedagogy. He is wonderful with kids and fun to work with as an adult! I highly recommend him!

My 6 year old daughter has been taking guitar lessons with "Mr. Paul" for a year. He has a wonderful way of connecting kids. He feels very present and focused in the lessons. When we run into challenges, he offers a myriad of suggestions. He is punctual, but doesn't seem rushed. It is obvious that he really enjoys teaching music.

My children have been receiving classical guitar lessons from Paul for the past 4-5 years. He is an exceptional teacher who skillfully interacts with and motivates children to achieve their goals for guitar playing. His unique and creative style translates into fun for the kids, all the while holding them to a high standard of performance. My kids have ALWAYS enjoyed going to lessons and this speaks volumes!!

My daughter has really enjoyed learning from Paul over the last 3 years. He is warm and motivating. He recognizes progress, but also holds my daughter accountable for practicing and playing with good quality. She looks up to Paul. Prior to working with Paul, we were with a nationally known Suzuki instructor in Texas. Paul sometimes comments that he doesn't live up to her reputation, but he is so wrong! He is so much more motivating and encouraging! I am certain that my daughter would not be as committed to guitar with any other teacher.
