I am a 2006 NNA-Certified Mobile Notary Public Loan Signing Agent, bonded and insured. I do signings for Mortgage, Escrow, Title and Loan Companies. I also go to Jails, Hospitals, Nursing Homes; I will meet people at their Homes, Work, Restaurants or any other place they want to meet. I am usually available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
I am experienced in Reverse Mortgages, First and Second Mortgages, Refinancing, HELOCs, Buying and Selling (even did a loan signing with parents selling a home to their adult child). I have Experince in Adoption, Power of Attorney, Buying and Selling autos, and will do any type of Notarization I am called for.
Please be upfront about the type of notarization you are wanting. I have quoted a medical notarization as a real estate loan signing because the lawyer never explained what he actually wanted. Afterward, I did tell the lawyer it would not cost that much. I try to be as honest as I can be.
I may charge a little more than some Notary Publics, but I take the extra time with the borrower or the person(s) signing the documents to make sure they are comfortable and relaxed. I do not rush the signer, I have had some borrowers to say they have had Notaries come, and be pushy and ended up canceling their loans because of that. Some of my signings have taken up to 3 to 4 hours. The signers are always happy with me; I have even been invited back to visit them, especially the older folks.
I go thru my package twice, after I have finished with the signing before I leave the person's house. I have not had a complaint against me, yet.
I serve Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb, Madison, Morgan and Cullman Counties in Alabama, but not limited to these. My base fee is $85.00 (includes 10 miles one way or 20 miles round trip), and $0.75 cents a mile round trip after that. (Let us say I have a signing 37.5 miles from my address or 75 miles round trip. Subtract 20 from 75 = 55 x $0.75 = $41.25 + $85.00 = $126.25 for a round trip of 75 miles.) Mileage is based on from my address to the signers address, not city to city.
I do charge an extra fee for faxing back documents, $10.00 up to 15 pages and $0.35 each page after that. The closest drop-box for FED-EX or UPS is 15 miles (one way) and they pickup at 5pm only. If I have to fax-back docs that makes another 30 miles and $22.50 added to the trip.
So, the above signing total added to the fax-back of 15 pages and drop-box miles all total: $126.25 for signing + $10.00 for fax-backs + $22.50 for extra trip to drop off package = $159.00.
I will go where my client wants me to go, if a company can keep me busy with at least 4 loan signings a month, I will give a 10% discount.
(I have had some companies ask me to go 75 miles (one way), with 25 to 30 pages of fax-backs wanting to pay me $75.00; that is not a fair price, and the companies know this.)
