Introduction: Capturing who I am in words is so hard, but I will try! Life happens fast! Maybe it feels that way because I've always been sentimental and wanted to hold on to the fleeting moments when all is well and life is just good. My pictures have always been my most treasured possession. They are tangible reminders of the people and places that I love and the memories we share. They also tell the story of my life, the experience that have shaped who I am. You can't put a price on that. Photography and design has been a love of mine since I was a child. Being creative came natural to me, and I was always coming up with a creative way to be "crafty" or "artistic." My love for art, color and the world around me continued into my college days. I attended Hampton University (Hampton, VA) where I received my Bachelor of Arts, honors degree in graphic design and marketing in 2004. During my time at my "Home by the Sea" (Hampton University), I had the privilege of studying drawing, painting, printmaking, graphic design and photography with some of the most passionate professors and creative peers, where a rich history of art is embraced. Upon graduation, I became a visual arts educator in the Birmingham City School System, for four years. During that time, I impacted the lives of many children and encouraged them that being creative and loving art is something to be proud of! In August of 2004, I began creating freelance graphic designs and taking freelance photos. Over the last ten years, I have evolved into a poised photographer and graphic designer. I have gotten great joy from capturing memories and creating solid designs for my clients. In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, slow dancing, fishing, traveling, listening to all kinds of music, catching up with friends, spending time with my family (I'm a proud aunt of five and bonus mom to one) and enjoying the simple things in life with my husband, Adrian. On April 11, 2010, Jemia Roberson Storey Photography & Design, LLC, was officially available for business! My passion is to capture a slice of life for you - the details of that special time in your life, the relationships that mean the most to you and/or your child's innocent eyes. These are all times when a picture is worth "A thousand words and a memory...," speaking to the deep places of your soul. So, I'm your photographer if you are bored with the "say cheese" portrait, you like a picture that tells a story, or you just plain love pictures.
