They were perfect gentleman. My yard had several big trees that were dying and they advised me in what to keep and let go. They did an amazing job. The yard looks amazing. There was so much overgrowth. They came every day early in the am and stayed all day. I am so very pleased with their work. I will use them again for all my tree maintenance work and would recommend them 100%. The price was very reasonable for all the work they did. I now have a beautiful yard instead of a wild jungle. If you need a tree yard man please call them. All employees are very professional. I think we negotiated a reneasable price. Like I said I will use them again for my yearly maintenance. Thank you so much, Manuela Golden Mobile AL.

I just moved to my new home last week and had been feeling very overwhelmed with tackling or shall I say attempting to tackle the lawn work. So I went on line and found Michael. Within minutes of seeking help, Michael was in touch. As schedules worked he was actually here within a day. I believe I read in a previous review that they were met with Michael's warm smile and kind handshake...we reviewed what should be done. I left much to him as I am not so great about lawn care! Michaels employee, Marion, is a man of few words but a master of much! I am thrilled with how the great everything looks. They mowed, trimmed nasty trees and weeds. I have hired him to be my "go to" lawn professional. I am looking forward to other projects that we will work on in the weeks and months to come. He is also going to be changing some of my fencing for my 3 dogs. I know this has been a lengthy review but I can not stress how comfortable I feel about Wilson's Lawn Care. Thank you Michael and Marion ~ you helped make my new home look sooooooooo much better!

WORTH THE WAIT! Justin, of Constant Concept Construction, may be the most talented, creative and skillful handyperson I have ever used. Not only is he knowledgable and facile, he is also thorough. He does not rush, and he makes sure to check and double-check his work. He even checks any repairs or installations that were previously done by others - and he fixes/completes those as well. If there were a rating of 4.9, I would choose that ONLY because he is rarely on time. We've talked about it, and have made some decisions as to how to modify this. However, although his tardiness is frustrating, he will not leave until he completes the work. I WILL be using him again! Oh! His rates are VERY FAIR & REASONABLE!

First let me start by saying I will be using Southern Superior again in the future. I am glad that they sent me a link to thumbtack so that I could give a public review on them. During site prep which another company did it was not realize that there was a tree too close to our Edition for the soffit to fit. They came up with a way to shorten the soffit and tie things in to where it still looked good. I also had mentioned to them that I was going to put in some new exterior door casings, they quoted me a price on the spot which was extremely reasonable and did the work the same day. We are very happy with our new room. They even found us a painter that did an exceptional job at a fair price.

Bert Ecle goes above and beyond and is very meticulous with every palm tree that he did in our yard and trust me...we have a lot of palm trees. He came early and stayed until the sun went down. We are now wanting him to other projects in our yard.

Wolff lawn care did an excellent job on my yard. The weeds and overgrown palm trees were starting to look more like a overgrown forest. I almost don't recognize my yard now. I highly recommend Wolff lawn care.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the crew that arrived was polite, worked hard, and cleaned up their work area as they progressed. We had them give us a landscape upgrade for the flower beds and install new St. Augustine sod for the backyard. They analyzed the soil and seemed to do a good job prepping before install. The supervisor was able to answer any questions I had and had a good knowledge of different plant options and how they grew. I would definitely hire them again. The yard looks great! I also now use them for my lawn maintenance as they gave me a better price than the previous contractor. All around Top Notch service.

I had asked a competitor (neighbor) on 3 occasions for an estimate. Chris was working on a very large tree next door and I was impressed with the work. He was prompt with a fair estimate and was on time and under budget. Very happy with the service and have already recommended him to friends.

I wanted someone to love our lawn and interviewed several candidates on-scene to observe their behavior with the yard. The last one I interviewed was Jason. He checked everything--crawling around bushes and grasses and weeds and trees and deciphering an issue with our sprinkler system get the idea. The others were nice, but I hired Jason on the spot at the end of the discussion. He's prompt, diligent, smart about the greenery...and yes--he loves our yard. It's been a long time since someone's done that... So glad I hired Jason.

Daves lawncare & pressure washing mowed my grass, weedeat around my house, fence, trees, etc. Then blew my sidewalks, driveway & porches off. He pulled weeds from my garden. After all of this work was done for a reasonable price i then had him pressure wash my house. When it was all said & done i had my yard & house looking great. I paid $230.00 to have yard mowed, weedeat & all grass on sidewalks porches & driveway cleaned off. Had weeds pulled from my garden. Last i had my house pressure washed. It looks great. I give daves lawncare & pressure washing 5 stars. I highly recommend

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
