FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a set monthly fee regardless of the number of lessons in that month. If the student takes lessons for a year, the number of lessons and the amount paid should be the same. The monthly fee is for the lessons in that month whether a student comes or not. That time is reserved for that student. I do make exceptions if I am notified at least a day ahead to schedule a make-up. I pick up the books that are needed and that charge is in addition to the lesson fee,.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took piano lessons for eleven years and have a Masters Degree in Education with a major in music. I have been teaching since I was 14. In college I had to play in a recital each semester. My sophomore year of college another student and I had a joint piano recital and also a joint voice recital. I accompanied younger classes for programs when I was either in the fifth or sixth grade and also in Junior High. In High School, I accompanied the Boys Glee Club one year as well as individual students for competitions. I also accompanied students for recitals in college. I have also played for a number of weddings and a few parties.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've loved music ever since I can remember. I begged for lessons for several years until I began them. My aunt played the piano and wrote out the treble clef with the note names for me when I was five. I would get her pop music and would find a note on the staff, play it, and go on to the next until I could play it. I had hear her sing the songs so I knew the melody and the words and could sing along when she played. When I was in elementary school, I wrote that I wanted to be a concert pianist. However, I would never go to New York or any other large city to perform, my hands are too small, and I'm not that good. Also, parents started asking me to teach their child when I was in High School so I decided to teach.
