I started taking lessons from Dave when I moved to Little Rock in 2009. I distinctly remember feeling uncertain if he would have the patience to teach a young teenager at the time, but that soon went away as the days, weeks, months, and eventually years passed. I took lessons from him until I left for college in 2015, and over that period of time I felt his influence on me as a musician and as a person learning the charms of different genres of music. If you want to memorize chords and tabs to learn songs, go to Ultimate-Guitar; if you want to learn the theory and the purpose behind every song of any genre, Dave is your man. He will teach you everything you need to know about guitar while also giving you an appreciation for the musician and his/her craft.

I was lucky enough to have David as my instructor in guitar at Pulaski Tech. As a YouTube taught adult guitarist it was my first experience with private structured lessons, and David was great. He helped identify bad habits, and taught me quite a bit of making my movements more efficient. He also does a wonderful job of telling the story of the modern music in relation to guitar. He has developed his own method that I still use for reference two years later, which also includes some really great techniques on muscle memory. After my time with David, my skills and confidence while playing greatly increased. If you are a bedroom player, David is very helpful in analyzing your playing to help you improve. If you are just dreaming of being able to play, David is your guy to see! He has a great method, and his demeanor when teaching adults is excellent. Call him up, and see for yourself.

Ive been playing guitar for around 15 years now, never took lessons, and have reached a point in songwriting and guitar work that I cant really move past. I knew there was a lot of pieces to the puzzle with music and guitar that I had missed along the way, so I decided to see what I could find in way of support locally. I found positive Google reviews for David, so I reached out and he got back to me ASAP. I explained my concern with him and my desire to learn more playing guitar and learning about music, and it seemed to really excite him, as he explained this definitely does happen and that hes here to be straight to the point of what well be diving in to. He laid out the groundwork and 3 months later, Im still learning weekly from him, practicing on my days in-between with excitement. Davids helped me re-discover the passion I have for music and playing guitar, as this has been extremely fulfilling. Ive been able to open doors and I now can understand the styles I could not before, which has helped me a lot with writing music as well. He knows his stuff and does not try to impress you with it. Davids easy to follow, explains in great detail when I am confused, always making sure I understand the material were going over. I plan on sticking with him for as long as hell have me and I highly recommend his service to not only beginners, of course, but to those who have been playing and want to continue to grow as a musician. He really is a musicians musician, if that makes sense.

Let me skip to the chase...David is awesome.I moved to Little Rock three years ago and knew only a handful of people. A couple months ago, in an attempt to make friends and revisit an old hobby, I looked for guitar teachers online. David was the first teacher to respond. I could tell via text I was going to like this guy but my expectations were exceeded when I met him in person. David has a masters in guitar (I think with a focus on improv) and has written his own book. When I was a teenager I took a handful of guitar lessons. One instructor was from a guitar store and one was a woman in her 80s who had been playing guitar for 70 years. The guitar store teacher taught me a few riffs and helped me learn (stumble through) a few of my favorite songs. I learned nothing about rhythm or music theory. The 80 year old teacher made me learn every single note on the guitar before I was allowed to play a song. I think I played three blind mice for an entire month. But, she did teach me a little about music theory and lot about keeping time in music.Davids teaching method is perfectly situated in the middle. He requires that you learn rhythm and music theory but hell let you do it through your favorite songs. Im in my 30s now and dont have a ton of time to practice. David knows this and understands. Even if I show up totally unprepared we still find a way to make the session useful. Seriously, reach out to this guy if you are a beginner or expert guitarist...he WILL be able to teach you something!
