The fence is really pretty, exactly as I wanted it, and built well. Victor also installed vinyl flooring and performed other smaller jobs indoors. He was willing to help in any way needed. Thank you.

I was needing some help around the house and was recommended Pat and Cat by a friend that used them. They have helped me several times. Mounted a TV, fixed my fence that was sagging/falling down, put on a shower head, fixed my doorbell, fixed some cabinet doors, and some other things as well. They even took some trash away that was too big for my trash can. Both are very nice and helpful and kind. I have a hard time doing things around the house and it is good to know I now have somebody to call when I need help. I have already told some of my friends about them. I plan to call them whenever I need something done.

As a homeowner, there are things I simply can't get done either because I don't have time, resources, or skills. I have hired MMT (Matt, specifically) to do some pretty intense projects. He has a wide range of experience and has unmatched construction acumen, which is rooted in his education and specialized training in various fields. He has built fences, installed appliances, and performed numerous repairs at my home and we vouch for him 100%. The best part? He almost always beats every local guy on price. I did have a project where I didn't mind paying slightly more because I knew I would get great results and a man that stands behind his work, and that is worth the difference and more. He and his team don't mess around with labor (the biggest cost) and believe in doing the job right the first time. This has been my experience without exception. Honest and communicative, this is the ideal business partner and people like him are hard to find anymore. Since I followed his firm on Facebook I have seen some very impressive work and have discovered that this team not only can execute, but they can help you conceptualize solutions for whatever it is that you want to accomplish. Matt and his team bust their tails. If you live in Northwest Arkansas or surrounding areas, take it from a person with a lot of experience in working with him. He's worth the call, and you'll keep calling once you realize he can do so much at the right price and with great quality. Why the lengthy review? Well, the best advertisement is word of mouth and I believe Matt deserves the opportunity to serve you. You will love the results.

Britt's work, for us, has been exceptional! Years ago, as a teen, he started mowing our lawn; and, his work was so satisfactory, we hired him to do other work. In all, for us, Britt has built a new garage with breezeway, installed two hydrolic tables that can be raised to the ceiling for two cars to park under, built a huge deck with accessible wheelchair ramp, mowed, brush hogged, laid gravel on our road to the highway below our hill, installed lighting, installed ceiling fans, installed property fencing, built a wall, planted trees, and removed large trees...all quality work! Britt comes highly recommended, from us!

Wonderful job! Derek came in and fixed up some pre-fab cabinets we had in our new house that were poorly installed. He matched paint, and built a removable sleeve with shelves on the sides to cover our pipe in our vent hood (removable for replacing vent fan in future when it fails). We had him pull out the over-fridge cabinet so it wasn't stuck back so far we couldn't reach it. My wife had a need to build 'shoe boxes' and drawers in our generic shelving unit that came in the master closet. In our laundry room Derek built a butcher-block top for our front load washer/dryer. It's a nice flat work surface and keeps us from stuff falling behind. The icing was our home office, the live edge pine and shaker style built-ins are amazing. The hidden bookshelf in the center is awesome. Derek brainstormed a 'James Bond' folding table surface which makes each work area an "L" when down and looks natural when up. The barn wood floating shelves and lighting make our office a more functional space for two. We're so excited to get all this work done and the craftsmanship is impeccable!

I live in Monett, MO and hired Jason Cochran to build a privacy fence for my back yard. First let me say that I sent out the request out on thumbtack on Thursday morning at 7:00. Jason had responded by 7:30. After talking with Jason on the phone he quoted me an excellent price for building the fence and told me that he could do the project the following week so I hired him. One week later Jason will be out to finish the project today and it looks fantastic. Everything is straight, plumb and just the way I envisioned it when I hired him. Jason is easy to work with, prompt, and does high quality work. But that's not all...he stayed in touch with me by phone, through text, keep me up to date as to when the material would be in, when he expected to be here, and if he was running late. Seriously who else does that in the contracting business? I also asked him to do some things outside the scope of the project and he was happy to help me out. He truly cares about taking care of his customers and it's obvious that he takes pride in his work. I would HIGHLY recommend Jason to anyone and the next time I need a general contractor for anything I will hire him in a heartbeat.

I have had over 40 years of fun and enjoyment in building and remodeling homes in the NWA area. I started the Vo-Tec in building trades. I build homes from 1,000 sq. ft. to 11,000. I have designed homes from single level to four stories. We are completely honest about the costs and problems that arise. We have never left a customer hanging or unhappy -- maybe one. I will give you a price for a turnkey or any phase of work you need us to do. Call me; I don't bite. Even if you have a question about an ongoing project, we are not doing for you. Our inspectors, architects and profs do energy efficiently at a common sense cost; it has been one of my rules of thumb since the late '70s.

B&O is an online home and lifestyle publication. We focus a lot on lawn and garden. Now, we actually provide the services. We will not be the cheapest, but we are perfectionists.

I am very dependable. I am in the business to build and make people happy. I take pride in my work. Thank you for your interest. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
