Ramon does excellent work. For a small side job he went above and beyond. Ramon made more than one trip out to the site to see our ideas. He also made tips with us to the various agencies the plans were being submitted to do he could help talk the plans through the process. Strongly recommended!

George and his team exceeded my expectations as the architect in charge of our coffee shop tenant improvement project. The level of service was exceptional. To summarize, George does whatever it takes to get the job done when it needs to get done, and does so with a pleasant smile on his face the entire time. The professionalism and responsiveness demonstrated by George and his team throughout the project were exceptional. Between late night emails, and quick text responses, George will deliver a level of responsiveness that makes you feel like your project is the only one he is working on. His pricing is fair and clearly stated in his contract. He won't nickel and dime you. My wife and I had three goals that our architect had to meet; do it quickly, do it cheaply, and do it well. George nailed all three. If we ever decide to build a second location, the choice of architect is obvious. I could imagine anyone working any harder for us than Reset Studios did.

David did a design of my kitchen remodel. It was spot on what we wanted. He had it done in a timely manner and we were able to remodel my 30 year old kitchen so it’s up to date and beautiful. He offered a few suggestions and gave us some information we hadn’t thought of asking about. Very pleased.

I have never worked with an architect before and Ryan is exactly the type of architect I needed to help me with the redesign of my condo. He took the time during our initial meeting to go through the entire process step by step, answered all my questions, and asked all the right questions. He made sure he had a thorough understanding of what I was looking to do, why I wanted to do it, and what I hoped it would look like once completed. As a result, the first draft Ryan produced was spot on. There was one revision to accommodate a few last minute changes I wanted to make and Ryan turned that around very quickly. He was always on time with everything and he doesn't waste time. Rather than ask me to do it, he took the initiative to contact my property manager to obtain copies of the original building plans. With my work schedule I really appreciated not having to deal with that. I would recommend Ryan to anyone. He's been great to work with and I'm going to begin the construction phase with a little more confidence knowing I've got a professional like Ryan to help me out.

I have known Brian for 10 years in both personal and professional situations. I would be hard pressed to come up with enough positive adjectives to describe his work ethic, his calm and introspective approach to life, his natural ability to see designs and carry them through, his leadership ability, his integrity and his character and honesty. I would, without reservation, say that you could not find a more qualified person. Brian provided design work and consulting, for example, on our Red Rock Creek project, a $30,000,000 project in Sedona, Arizona. His work was professional and timely and was instrumental in getting the project approved by the City of Sedona. He also coordinated with the City as well as various engineers and provided indispensible ideas on construction methods and cost savings. Due to the drop in the real estate market, the project was not completed, but Brian's part was impeccable

Ken Miller is awesome to work with! He put helping us to achieve our goals as the primary motivation and he's always very responsive throughout any project. He believes architectural style and beauty are paramount, but only in so far as they help us achieve what we're trying to do. He built his scope of services around our mission and culture, not strictly around producing a building through a factory/textbook process - and he'll spend time to learn that culture before deciding what to do. We'll keep going back to him for future projects because he makes himself available to and present for us, and always has ideas for how to move a project forward. Even our most recent unorthodox project took a complex approach to be operating on time, but the service we expected was the same as before.

We are a small firm with large experience.

I provide architectural plans for remodels, additions, new homes and for building permits and all architectural plans required.

We are an interpersonal collection collaborating in the works of conceptualization. Our moments of now exist only in the days of a tomorrow's past. All acts of creation: for you, from them, by us. This interface is one of the many delocalized thresholds from which we operate our Hertzian existence: or being 2.0. Our nature is such: 1. To conceptualize an existence through means which have yet to be discovered 2. To catalyze with moments in time: or the spirits of space 3. To compress memory in daydream as the units of creation 4. To follow a seemingly deterministic process through intuitive flux What does this all mean? Well, it means that we do not shy away from the creative process. We are happy designers who sleep well at night, and that we intentionally leave the designs unresolved - leaving you with your own story to tell.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do architects work?

Architects may work for an architecture or engineering firm, they may work for a government organization, they can work for a construction company, or they may be self-employed (freelance). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics explains that architects spend a large amount of their working time in the home or company office: meeting with clients; creating reports and architectural drawings; and working with other architects and engineers. When not in an office, an architect is often at the construction site either as part of the development of plans or to ensure building progress is following the blueprint.

When a client interacts with an architect, it is typically to have them design drawings for the construction of a house or a building. If you are a client who has hired a large architecture firm, there may be a team of people working on your design. But if you are working with a freelance architect or a smaller firm, one person (or a small group) will take your concept and translate it into an architectural blueprint that a builder can use to construct a house. The plans will lay out everything from the depth of the foundation to the materials to use to the type of metal to be used in the reinforcement. Once the plans have been created and handed off to the builder, the architect may remain on the project — depending on budget — and oversee progress.

How do architects charge for their services?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median salary of an architect in 2016 was $76,930. This range included architects with every type of company as well as self-employed architects. Depending on the architect and whether they’re with a firm or independent, they may charge per hour or by the square foot, or they may charge a percentage of the total budget for a construction project. An hourly rate is typically used for smaller projects such as providing consultation, helping clients hone their concept before the design process begins, or drafting documents and plans. If an architect is working on an hourly basis on a larger project, there will usually be an agreed-upon cap on the number of hours they will work. For larger projects, such as new construction or total overhaul remodels, architects may charge a percentage of the total construction costs. The architect will usually set the percentage you will pay after the total cost of construction has been accounted for. Percentages can range within a firm depending on the extent of the services they’re providing. For example, a lower percentage of the total construction costs may include drafting and minimal consultation and guidance along the way, while a higher percentage could include on-site project management services with every detail attended to. Architects may also charge by the square footage of the project. The rate per square foot can vary depending on the individual’s training, the services they are providing, the complexity of the project, and other factors — such as obtaining permits. The national average cost to hire an architect is between $1,690 and $2,500.
