This is my standard in EVERY area of service including music lessons, solo piano and piano/vocal performance, audio and video recording editing and arranging, school and church accompaniment, consultation, and rehearsal leading, etc. My style of teaching and everything I do is based on positive motivation. I don't try to MAKE my students practice and clients perform better - I make them WANT to! ****************************************************************************************** I am a skilled, experienced music teacher, recording artist, and working musician who has been teaching voice, piano, and composition lessons for over 20 years. Classically trained at the Cincinnati Conservatory, I have much practical experience in many other genres as well, having been a participant in many rock, pop, jazz, and gospel groups and performance situations through the years. I am very successful at helping students excel in whatever style of music they prefer, and I am very skilled at getting novice players and singers up and running quickly, being able to read music and perform after just a few lessons. Although teaching is my main activity, being a recording artist and working musician in other areas helps keep me relevant, up-to-date, and practical in my teaching. And teaching keeps me grounded in fundamentals and proper technique for my other activities! A mutually beneficial synergy! ****************************************************************************************** Born and raised in Ohio, I have played the piano since I was 5 and have performed professionally since my early 20s. After studying composition, theory, and classical piano at the University of Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music, I began my music career by playing keyboard and singing with one of the top pop and show bands in Ohio. Later, I relocated to Nashville where I was involved as a writer with a premier contemporary Christian music publisher. I continued writing and producing music for my own recordings and printed music, including a hymn book of traditional hymns I arranged in a contemporary new-age/smooth jazz and pop style. I also produced and arranged for other recording artists while traveling nationwide as a respected contemporary Christian music artist, worship leader, and worship seminar instructor throughout much of the 1980s and early '90s. Later, I became involved as a worship pastor and music instructor at several churches and schools.I continued developing my career in education as a private voice and piano instructor and college admissions advisor. In addition to my earlier studies at the music conservatory, I also holds a master's degree in education. ****************************************************************************************** I have enjoyed success with several of my recordings of original music and arrangements receiving thousands of plays and downloads throughout the world through most major internet streaming and download sites.
