Kendra M. says, "When my kitchen faucet started leaking a few days before a scheduled home inspection, I called one of the plumbing companies that you see on TV and was told it would cost over $500 for them to replace it, if I supplied the new faucet. Obviously that was insane, so I ordered a faucet from Amazon and turned to Thumbtack for help with installation. After two other Thumbtack contractors were unable to keep their scheduled appointments, Stuart at Duke Construction stepped up and came over the same day. He installed the new faucet with no problem and for a reasonable price. Hopefully the home inspector won't find many other issues, but if he does, Stuart will be my first call to take care of them."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
