Started out a bit rocky.. 4 hours after the scheduled move time, we had to reschedule for the following day because it got too late. However, the next day they sent 4 instead of 2 movers, and even took an hour off for the mishap. The guys were friendly and hard workers. Super quick too. And on Memorial Day! Would hire again based on quality and price, but would plan for a 24 hour window.

They made my move very smooth! I hired two movers who were friendly, hard working and fast. Keeping my furniture safe was their biggest concern but they still had time to make jokes and small talk while working. Moving from a second story to a tri-level looked seamless with their agility and speed. Arizona heat was no match for them, as they remained pleasant and helpful the entire time. I can not say enough good things about this company!

TEN STARS!!!!! If i could! I hired Jason and crew through Thumbtack last year to move some things into storage. I had already relocated to the Midwest. We communicated through many texts and phone calls to coordinate the date and time. Since I was not there for the move, Jason acted as my temporary power of attorney to ensure all my things made it to my storage unit. They were very professional, efficient, and low cost. They are actually the cheapest and most reliable than any movers I have ever dealt with in Arizona.

Trickshot Billiards did a great job! Frank was an excellent communicator, gave the best bid, arrived on time, did excellent work, was very detail oriented, and he made the moving of our pool table much easier than I had expected. He also replaced the worn felt with brand new excellent quality felt. It was obvious that he has had years of experience and this was quite obvious at the way that he leveled the pool table. Everything about the move was very professional. I highly recommend Trickshot Billiards for anyone who needs to move pool tables or replace the felt.

What could have been better? NOTHING! Sean and his team at Momentum Movers are the best in the business. As a contract communications specialist I have moved many times in my life, often with professional help. Never has any mover been more professional, courteous or efficient than than these guys were. The quote was fast and accurate, and they even threw in some extras at no charge when the move was underway. Don't look any further. Momentum Movers is the one. PS....No they didn't pay me to say this. I just know quality when I see it.

Overall, everything went well and the movers were good. It seemed at times they took a little longer then necessary explaining what they were going to do, rather than just doing it. It was obvious that one of the movers were being trained, he did a very good job and worked hard, but it did slow the job down a bit. We appreciated the attention to detail the guys provided Thank you!

Brought 4 movers, very classy and fast. Best part the guys were interacting with my 4 and 7 year old kids all day. Most movers would be telling them to get out of the way. We will be using them again next time we move!

I was actually quite taken back at the other reviews that people left. People complained about having to pay more for more time and work needed by the company. Well yeah of course if the job description was inaccurate then the quote changes. It’s just a quote. This is common sense. The workers were very professional, friendly and detailed. They were very clear about the cost and that there may be additional fees that apply in case we came across things unmentioned in my request. I did agree to pay more to have them Disassemble and reassemble 2 large pieces of furniture. I was reassured by No limit movers that I was not obligated to have them do so if the quote was out of my range, although he gave me the option to continue with the job, the new quote was given to me right away to help me make my decision to continue or not. I chose the new quote, there’s no way i would be able to do it on my own. I will be needing movers again soon and will definitely rehire No Limit. I’m glad I made my decision to choose No limit without the words of the other reviews. They must be the type of people you can never please. I run my own company and understand what it’s like having customers like that. Don’t let them keep you from choosing this great company. I know I’ll be back for their services again

Pat was the best mover I've ever had! Brought my stuff from Los Angeles to San Francisco and the move was a total breeze! From the start Pat gave a great price (significantly lower than other movers) and was easy to communicate with. During the actual move he instantly relieved my stress and moved my stuff quickly and efficiently. Can't recommend him enough. Excellent mover!

My movers just left and requested a review as quickly as possible. I assured them that I would provide then with a 10 out of 5 star rating. Most importantly, the young men were respectful to my husband and I. I am 67 years old so I was on the young men from start to finish - making sure they were respectful of my belongings and home. They wrapped all of my furniture and assisting with packing items that were not packed upon their arrival. I did notice a small hole in the wall at the pick up address. Tight corners so I did not complain. But I did want them to know that I noticed. Other than that, my belongings arrived in great shape. I will recommend to my friend Margaret who will be moving in about 2 weeks. I informed her to request Mark and Stephen. Thanks again for your hard work. Spend your tip wisely.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
