Hi! I’m Tara, a Choral Music Education Major teaching beginner piano and beginner-to-advanced vocal lessons! I have taken over 7 years of vocal lessons and am currently studying for my Bachelor’s in Choral Music Education at Brigham Young University-Idaho! I started teaching voice and piano lessons last year and love helping students learn to free their voice and enjoy singing together. My Vocal Approach: I meet students where they are at. Whether you have had 0 singing experience or years of experience, I take an individualized approach for each of my students. Each student recognizes good singing differently and I help them recognize the healthy approaches for their own voice. I aim to teach healthy singing habits that students can take with them going forward in their singing endeavors. We will celebrate success together. Learning to free the voice correctly is a process and I aim to bring confidence to what you already do well. We will build on good habits and create new ones. Bring whatever music you would like to work on and we will incorporate that into our lessons. I take a classical training approach of freeing the voice from strain and focusing on the most natural beautiful sound. By singing with me, you will learn what it is to sing well through using the natural functions of your body correctly. My Piano Approach: For beginner students, I focus on the possibilities of the piano and how they can use what they are learning going forward. I want them to not just begin loving the piano when they are able to play advanced repertoire, but to have fun exploring its possibilities from the beginning. The piano is a beautiful instrument that teaches so much about music.
