While living in Louisville, Amanda aided me with laundry, vacuuming, dusting, etc. because of a problem with my back and hip. She also prepared dinner for me on multiple occasions when necessary. In addition, she helped me take care of my three large dogs and my cat. She made sure they were fed, watered, and the litter box was cleaned. She was also there to watch them on a couple of occasions overnight. I felt completely confident with her in my home and taking care of my pets while I was away for work. Everything was done in a timely, efficent, and professional manner; and the food was excellent and healthy. I would recommend her for any task you need assistance with. She was thorough, always well-groomed, and had an attitude and presence that would lift you up, no matter what the situation going on in your personal life at that moment. She was a joy to work with. I was saddened when she moved to Arizona to be closer to her boys, but she is a very nuturing, caring woman and did what was best for her at that time.

I am the type of person that won’t go anywhere because I did not trust anyone with my two babies, my Australian Shepherds. I did not have good experiences with pet sitters in the past and my girls have lots of needs. When I found Glenda, I was blown away. She is the most thorough and professional pet sitter that I have ever seen. On her initial visit, my dogs sensed her love for animals and immediately went to her. She is the Dog Whisperer of Tucson. She takes a Comprehensive history of your pets and their health, how your house works, emergency contacts, medications, food, etc. (All done on a laptop). She is extremely meticulous and organized. She asks everything and anything that you can think of regarding your pets and house. Glenda verifies all appointments via email, leaves a detailed journal of her visits and wants you to call her when you return so she knows the dogs are being taken care of. Glenda has since watched my pets several times. Upon my neurotic request, she texts messages and photos to me every time she visited my home and gave me a full report of how it went. She also placed my garbage out and took in mail, packages and papers, and watered plants. Glenda has an incredible knowledge of animal care and can dispense medications and administer shots. Glenda will also exercise my girls on a run if needed. She is in incredible shape and has more energy than anyone I know, including me. She has been a blessing for me and truly cares for my girls as if they were her own. She is an amazing human being: she is kind, honest, loving and extremely professional. I could never thank her enough for all of the wonderful things she has done. My dogs are always happy with her. I am also neurotic about keeping a clean and organized household. I arrived home to find everything exactly as I left it and often better. I would recommend Glenda to anyone that has a pet sitting need. She has thought of absolutely everything! I trusted her in my home and around my animals and she did not disappoint! I love her quality service and have to say I am a bit jealous of her well-oiled machine of an independent business. 5 stars!!! Barbara

We did a board and train package with Manners and More and I could not be more pleased with the results. Our little dog Baxter was uncontrollable jumping on us all the time, he had no leash manners at all, would not come when called. We gave him to Nathen and were amazed with the results. Baxter now will stay in a designated space (willingly) when we put him there for as long as we need. He now sits for attention in front of us instead of jumping on us constantly. He has awesome leash manners and he comes to us when called. Baxter went from the worst dog in the house to best trained dog by far. He is a joy to have again. Granted, we had to learn how to command our own dog. We had to learn how to communicate with our dog (included) so the things he learned while away could be duplicated at home. The follow ups were great so that at first if he regressed we were able to address it and get him back on track. Great Trainer! Great Training!

Wes has house sat and cared for our cats and dog many times. We had a diabetic cat he cared for including giving his twice daily insulin injections. The cat I have now has asthma and he has given her daily inhaler treatment. He is responsible and trustworthy. I would highly recommend Wes to care for the furry members of your family.

This family watched my Frenchie for two weeks while out of town. Maureen was so thoughtful to send me pictures and videos of my fur baby playing and having fun with the other dogs as well as all the walks she went on. They walk the dogs every day and ensure the best care and attention to you and your dog!

It was the first time I've ever had to leave my dogs for a business trip without having a sitter. I was going to be gone for 9 weeks. A friend recommended Katrina. I was so at ease with the amount of updates and communication. I felt very at ease. Returning home, it was like I had left them with a lifetime friend. I will recommend Katrina anybody. A+

I have lots of experience with dogs. I ran my own kennel and training school for a few years in Guadalajara, Mexico. I'm a very active and energetic person. I'm always looking for the best way to keep myself busy and dogs used to be my passion, my job and my business for long time. My prices are very reasonable since I know all the details needed to take care for dogs.

We walk, bathe, do long walks in the park, play catch, run around, and show them love, making sure they have water, food, and toys.

    About

I am looking for odd jobs or any kind of work. I am willing to do a variety of jobs. I love animals, and I'm looking to start veterinary school soon. I walked dogs in Phoenix four years ago, then moved back to Tucson, and I have been looking for dogs to walk since then. I love doing it!

    About

I'm a pet sitter. I'm great with animal. I'll take care of cats and dogs. I'll provide walking and give plenty of attention.

    About

I'm currently a senior at the University of Arizona. I'm an out-of-state student from Seattle. I have been pet sitting now for five years and love the commitment. I don't have a business due to having another job as a wine salesman and being a full-time student, but I have a lot of passion for animals. Many clients are interested in my work for the main reason that I'm reasonably priced compared to professional businesses. What I believe makes my business great is the idea to keep each day active. My main goals while on the job include staying healthy (active, running, parks, walks, etc.), being responsible (keeping hydrated, food, etc.), and working hard for my clients as well as their pets.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

    • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
    • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
    • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
    • What are your different walk routes?
    • When will you pick up and drop off?
    • How will we communicate?
    • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
    • What’s your cancellation policy?
    • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
    • How and how often do I pay you?
    • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
