Portrait subject
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My portraits are realistic, capture excellent likenesses, and yet have a lively, painterly style. I am nationally recognized for my expertise in painting diverse skin tones, and have published two books and four DVDs on how to do so. I love working with each client to develop a shared vision of the portrait, so that every aspect of the portrait development process is geared toward that end. Of course I love the process of painting, starting with a white canvas and all of the joy and promise that entails.

Chris is the consummate professional with incredible talent to capture the depth and breadth of your loved one on canvas. Her patience in truly understanding her subject is unsurpassed. She is meticulous in every aspect of her profession following her passion in the smallest of detail. The portrait that Chris painted of my son has been hanging in my living room for 20+ years - it touches my heart and brings a smile to face each time I pass it. Without a doubt, Chris is an excellent portrait artist whose talent and commitment will fulfill your every expectation.

Chris Saper has given me the priceless gift of knowledge so deeply desired. In 2003, the purchase of her book, Painting Beautiful Skin Tones with Color and Light, brought me into contact with Chris. Her portraits and still lifes exhibit the same lush brushwork, color and composition that I have long admired. Personally, Ms. Saper has exhibited the same integrity of instruction during her workshops that she does in her personal and business dealings. Upbeat, energetic and uplifting - a joy to work with - Chris Saper does class "A" job in everything she does.

I proudly hang in my living room three of Chris's masterpieces. She has done a portrait of each of my two daughters and then a lovely portrait of myself with my two daughters. These portraits were completed when my daughters were ages 2 and 6. They are now 17 and 21. Her work is exceptional and her level of professionalism and service is outstanding. She has a great reputation in the industry because of these qualities. I do not have any suggestions for improvement. She sets the bar very high!

Chris is not only an amazingly talented artist, but the consummate business professional as well. Everything she does is the deffinition of intgrety, elegance and class. I worked side by side with Chris for two years, enjoying her charming prescence, and watching her stunning talent unfold week by week, as she worked on her subjects. I am the proud owner of one of Chris' pieces. It is one of my most treasured possessions. Thank you Chris for making my home more beautiful by sharing your gift. Love it, love you!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing structure is very straightforward - I charge by body parts: head and shoulders; half figure with hands, full figure etc. It can take me as long to paint a pair of hands as a face, so my fees are a reflection of the time required for each level of complexity. My fees are published on my website.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have a Bachelor's degree in fine art, with a minor in business administration. After graduation from college it dawned on my that I'd have to (gulp) support myself. I entered graduate school and received a master's degree in health care management, and spent the next seventeen years as a health care executive in Phoenix AZ. When my son was born in 1989, I looked at his face and decided to paint him. I developed a business plan to transition from the health care field and here I am, 22 years later.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with each client to create a treasured heirloom of original fine art, capturing the personality and uniqueness of each subject I paint. I can help them to capture moments in time, love, honor and respect. I particularly enjoy painting posthumous portraits to capture families' memories of their loved ones,
