- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Because each job is different in scope (type and size of damage, type of carpet, availability or lack of donor repair pieces, etc) there is no "standard" pricing. In general, room stretches run approx $100 for the 1st area, and $75-85 for each additional area, depending on size and room complexity (angles, doors, etc). I do my best to give an accurate estimate on the phone, based off of what the client tells me, and do not perform repairs without first discussing pricing and gaining approval of the client. Often times, clients also send me pictures of the damage so I can better estimate costs over the phone.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a customer contacts me, we will talk about the nature and origin of the damage, the carpet type, and what the customer's desired outcome is. I will give my best assessment of the scope, cost, and potential outcome of the repair and schedule a physical estimate or work order, depending on the customer's wishes. Once ta the property, I will do a physical inspection of the damage to assess extent and to confirm whether or not the damage can be repaired to customer's satisfaction. I then explain to the customer what steps I will need to do to complete the work and confirm the pricing for that, so that there are no surprises.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started doing carpet repair a number of years ago in conjunction with my carpet cleaning business, and decided to launch Barefoot Carpet Repair, LLC, this year, as a stand-alone repair and stretching company to keep up with the repair and stretching demands I receive, and to focus specifically on repairs and stretching. I hold an IICRC Certification in Carpet Reinstallation (stretching) and Repair, and certification from Costa Group in advanced techniques in carpet repair.Because I do not generally install whole areas of carpet, there is no licensing requirement by the state of AZ.
