Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be sure to ask the potential trainer what kind of certification and/or education they have as a personal trainer in addition to finding out how many years they have been a fitness professional. It is also important to ask the trainer what their specialty is.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Many trainers have only a certification and possibly not a lot of years of experience. I have been a personal trainer for 10 years and I still have a lot to learn. I never suggest that I have all the answers. I am learning all the time! In addition, the research in exercise science & nutrition is ever changing. A good personal trainer keeps up on new developments in this industry.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. 1. What kind of certifications do you have?
2. How long have you been a personal trainer?
3. What is your specialty?
4. Do you have any testemonials or references from previous clients?
5. What other education do you have?
6. What is your philosophy?
7. Who is your typical client?
