There are two providers with A Sound Agency. Both have a degree in music therapy, which has trained us to be more observant, flexible, adaptable and sensitive when teaching. We do not have a "one size fits all" approach, as every student is different in their learning styles, their abilities, and their desires to learn.
We love seeing the effect music has on people. Music lessons, when done right, can build confidence, persistence, self-confidence and patience. These qualities help the student in pursuing their musical goals, so there is not a power struggle between teacher and student.
Laura offers music lessons online only (online lessons have a discount). Laura teaches piano, guitar, and ukulele. Angela offers in person lessons in Scottsdale and surrounding areas. Angela teaches piano, guitar, ukulele, and harp.
If you have multiple students you would like to sign up for lessons, each individual lesson is discounted. Contact us for more details.

My daughter is extremely excited about her pianolesson every week. Laura is adaptive and providing the groundwork for finger coordination, reading music, recognizing notes AND making it fun. My daughter loves it!

I couldn't have asked for a better piano teacher for my 9 year old grandaughter.Laura is such an upbeat,patient teacher who inspires so much enthusiasm.My grandaughter had never had a lesson on the piano or ukele before and made excellent progress. She was looking out the window 20 minutes before the lesson to see when Laura was arriving!

She was prompt, friendly and courteous. My son really enjoyed learning from her. She has a great system set up. She gave him some great exercises to do in between lessons. She has a fantastic system she uses. We look forward to getting our son to rock on!!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We first ask questions about what the student is looking for in lessons. "What are your goals? What styles of music or techniques do you want to learn or avoid?" Are a few questions we use to set up the student and teacher up for success in lessons. If the student does not have any music books, we provide the first book and notebook free of charge. At the first lesson, we discuss the importance of practicing, and help the student set up a practice schedule. All subsequent lessons start out by reviewing what was practiced, and then going over new things to work on till the following lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our providers know how to sing, play guitar, and play piano, and some also offer other instruments to teach. All of our providers are music therapists, and have training in redirecting off-task behavior, and providing lots of opportunities for success. While the lessons are not considered music therapy, the music therapy background helps each provider to be more flexible, patient, and supportive in lessons.
