Well, we got the times mixed up for class so we didn't get to meet. But, she called and was very nice. We will be having class this Saturday. So, I know it will be great for my daughter for her 1st ballet class. She is so excited and me, too!

I had a great experience with this dance school. Very supportive and caring instructors (especially Mark) who are very professional. I would highly recommend this school and Mark for anyone who would like to start dancing or polish dancing skills. Mark is also helpful to prepare you for the wedding dance. And it is so much fun to go to these dance classes. Love it!

My wife and I enrolled in preparation for the first dance at our wedding reception. Our instructor (Sarah) was amazing with the choreography, as well as making every effort to ensure that we were well prepared while having a great time! Our first dance was fantastic and will forever be a memory that Sarah helped create. We have also incorporated some of those choreographed moves from our first dance into general dancing as well. We have since continued our enrollment, with Sarah as our instructor, and do not see that changing anytime soon. Thanks so much for making our dance lessons such a fun, learning experience. We are far more confident on the dance floor and Sarah at FADS is the reason.

I really enjoy Rock Solid fitness. You have a trainer who structures the workouts, so you get total body fitness. The workouts are fun and challenging and don't become boring. You have ZUMBA classes put in throughout the week to mix it up a bit. I always feel like I have worked every body part by the end of the week and love that you are done with it during the day and your evenings are free to yourself. Fun classes and fun people.

Leanne's knowledge of the body and years of experience as a dancer give her classes a beautiful rhythm and flow. Her classes are challenging and gentle at the same time. She respects the individual needs of each student, bringing a positive, playful, and generous spirit to the energy of the group.

I took Zohar's classes for six years and stopped only when I moved out of Phoenix. I'd already performed professionally a bit (I'd danced for 6 years before) when I walked into her class for the first time and owe her a great deal. Having made up missed my usual intermediate/advanced classes by attending the beginner group, I've seen how Zohar is able to adapt her instruction so that dancers of different levels can get a lot out of class. With beginners she teaches technique patiently and thoroughly, and as you advance she begins to transition you into really putting the dance together. I've learned a ton of performance skills from her, though she does not pressure you to perform if it doesn't interest you. She basically gives her intermediate/advanced students a challenge and helps each student work through it, then gives feedback. With a lot of other group classes -- and I've been to a lot -- you get technique but never put it all together beyond a class choreography, but with Zohar you become comfortable with improvisation as you build on your technique. She also encourages you to develop your own style. It is also worth noting that Zohar has special training to work with women who are pregnant. I danced with her all the way through my pregnancy. I learned a LOT of different abdominal movements as we tried to persuade my breech baby to turn. (My daughter inconsiderately refused, but at least Zohar came to visit me in the hospital after my c-section!) I loved being able to (safely) do this gentle exercise, and I think it helped me stay energized and fit at work even as the third trimester dragged on. One thing I miss especially, though, are my classmates. The women who studied with me are amazing. There was always a feeling of sisterhood. Because my primary social circle outside of class was mostly math and engineering grad students, I didn't have a whole lot of female friends. I love these ladies! We all bring different prior dance experience and style to class and I feel like I've learned a lot from them, too. I've had 10 teachers in 4 states and have never taken classes that were so responsive to my needs and goals as a dancer. There is a definite void in my Wednesday nights since I moved away.

With a slight knowledge and skill set of ballroom dancing, I was pleasantly surprised at the ability of Jeff (instructor) to gauge my skill level and work with me from there. Although in the beginning, the progress seemed slow and very basic, the results are that I have learned ALL aspects of dance; Latin, international, rhythm, smooth, country and have become proficient in ways I didn't expect. Not to mention that the lessons are always fun. I would recommend Jeff French at Dance Zone to everyone!

My daughter is enjoying a lot participating in Ballet and Voice Classes at Kat's Artist Tree on the weekly basis. She started in July 2012. She is receiving high quality instructions in both classes. We saw the positive results in Holiday Concert. Very pleasant and warm atmosphere in the studio. Kat's Artist Tree is highly recommended. Thank You!

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
