Beautiful Walls by Doug Morris

I started in business as a graphic designer before transitioning into exhibition and interior design. When I quit - because I wanted to be doing something that was more "hands-on" - I explored working with wood, metal, ceramics and glass. When I began learning the basics of faux finishing from a master craftsman from England over 20 years ago, I quickly became hooked on the reaction of our customers to the way we transformed their homes. There's something exponentially satisfying about exceeding people's expectations. Customers often have an idea of what they want, sometimes they even have pictures as a guide, but when they see the completed result, the difference it makes to their home, they are quite often totally amazed. My background in commercial design, sets me apart from most other decorative artists. I spent years meeting deadlines and developing the discipline to harness my creativity to satisfy customers, and not impose my own preferences or muse, unless they were relevant. There are many artists to choose from, so I am always grateful to have another opportunity to do what I love for people who care about their homes. I have now been providing decorative painting services around the Valley for over twenty years and have been a Thumbtack "Top Pro" from the first year I joined. Although I began to draw the world around me before I reached kindergarten age, my fulfillment has always been in using my creative and technical abilities to help others. Whether as a designer, helping establish the public face of major companies, or as a muralist, faux finisher and decorative artist, bringing rooms to life and turning homes into whatever kind of castle their owners desire.
