Introduction: Before I answer this question I would like to provide information a bout my classes when Covid19 has changed the landscape of our lives.
I am currently conducting Skype/Zoom classes for students who prefer this medium. I have recently resumed teaching in person at my studio as well.
I have a large studio where it is easy to keep the social distance while teaching. Every now and then I get closer to the canvas to make a point but go back to distancing very quickly. I wear a mask as do my students. Otherwise, classes proceed as always: in a friendly, calm atmosphere where acquiring a solid base of information and practice is the priority - be in Representational or Abstract styles. Customers may hire me as an instructor as well as a professional artist who will create a customized painting or art work that will represent their vision and concept. I accept commissions in a variety of mediums and styles.
I have been teaching oils, acrylics, Encaustics and mixed media for over 25 years. I guide students, both beginners and intermediate, to acquiring a solid base in painting and reaching a new level of proficiency. They understand what they are doing and why, which supports them in their cumulative growth and eventual independence in their art pursuits.
My teaching follows a system so the student is not overwhelmed, understands each step and progresses in his/her own rhythm. I do not teach by rote but adjust the method and process to the student's needs and goals. I review the methods and process periodically with the student, to ensure that the his/her goals and needs are being met. Depending on scheduling, sometimes the student is the only one in class but each class is a private class, regardless of the number of students present.
The atmosphere is warm and friendly.
Another class/workshop that I teach is very special. It is called "Mindfulness and Self Expression". It uses spontaneous painting to access deeper layers of emotions, feelings, thoughts. It helps in easing blockages, understanding emotions that lay deeper in the psyche, etc. The process is playful and easy, and does not require any experience in art making.
This class is a profound journey of exploration of the Self through spontaneous, intuitive and mindful painting. This process will bring not only an opening to insights and connection with one’s Self but genuine joy as it helps to dissolve personal and creative blocks.
There are spots of resistance in the mind which often lead to unacknowledged emotions. This class enables us to see them and, by bringing them to light, honor them. This process allows for unfettered self expression without having to live up to predetermined canons, opinions, etc. in a non-threatening, accepting, playful and safe environment.
Mindfulness and Self Expression can also be described as an extended, deep meditation and what it means to express and accept ourselves joyously. It is highly recommended for artists as well as anyone in any profession.

Other classes I teach are Mixed Media in Encaustics, Mixed Media (without Encaustics). I can also guide anyone who has a specific, time-sensitive project.
I have been painting for over 40 years. I love creating and my passion translates into my teaching. It is a joy to see my students progress, grow in their pursuit of knowledge and painting abilities. I love seeing the joy in my students' eyes when they realize that their creativity is blooming and that they now have the tools to express it. I dedicate a great deal of personal attention to each student. Their needs and goals are seriously considered and we work out a process of gradual learning, without overwhelm. The atmosphere in my studio is peaceful, relaxed, personal and warm.
