Nitin S. says, "**★☆☆☆☆** I hired Austin Johnson to fix a leaking bathroom faucet and paid $125 in labor. Before the appointment, I provided photos and a detailed description of the issue through Thumbtack. The reason for the service call was clear: diagnose and fix a leak. The faucet was replaced, but the leak was never fixed and continues to this day. Throughout the entire process, all communication was handled by his wife through the Thumbtack account. Based on the outcome, it did not appear that the details of the problem were properly communicated or understood because the original issue was never resolved. After the repair failed, I followed up to report that the leak was still present. The only response I received was that the leak was "probably the cartridge" and that I would need to pay additional labor charges to replace it. I explained that I did not believe I should have to pay more labor to fix the same issue when the original problem was never resolved. Diagnosing the cause of the leak was part of the job I hired them to do in the first place. After I raised that concern, communication essentially stopped. My follow-up messages went unanswered, and no effort was made to stand behind the work or resolve the issue. What makes this especially frustrating is that I had already left a positive review shortly after the service because I believed the repair had been successful. Unfortunately, once the leak proved otherwise and I needed support, the responsiveness disappeared. In the end, I paid for a repair that did not fix the problem, was told I needed to pay additional labor to address the same issue, and was then ignored when I questioned why I should be charged again. Based on my experience, this was one of the most disappointing handyman service experiences I've had. I would strongly encourage anyone considering hiring them to think carefully before doing so. Accountability and standing behind your work matter, and unfortunately neither was present in my experience."See more
