FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing varies based on the instructor, lesson length, and lesson format. Discounted rates are available for prepaid packages of 5, 10, or 20 lessons. For in-home lessons, a travel fee may apply depending on location. Please contact us for current rates and availability.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with a conversation to learn about the student's age, experience level, interests, goals, and learning style. From there, we match each student with the teacher best suited to their needs. One of the strengths of our studio is that we have different teachers suited for different goals and personalities. For students seeking intensive conservatory-style training and the highest levels of artistic and technical development, we offer that path. For students who simply wish to enjoy music, develop a new skill, or experience the joy of playing the piano, we offer that experience as well. Our approach is highly individualized. We do not believe every student should follow the same curriculum or progress through identical lesson books at the same pace. Instead, we tailor instruction to each student's interests, strengths, needs, and long-term goals. Our teaching is heavily influenced by the great traditions of Eastern European piano pedagogy, including the artistic lineage of Theodor Leschetizky and Jan Ekier. Whether a student is pursuing a professional career or playing purely for personal enjoyment, our goal is to provide instruction that is engaging, challenging, and deeply rewarding.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our teachers are trained at the highest levels of music performance and pedagogy. Members of our faculty hold Master's and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, while others have studied at distinguished institutions including the University of Southern California, the University of Oxford, and the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland. In addition to our regular faculty, students have opportunities to learn from distinguished Guest Faculty, including professors from leading international conservatories and prizewinners of major international piano competitions. Past Guest Faculty have included professors from the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and the Moscow Conservatory, as well as prizewinners of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw and other prestigious international competitions.
