We found ourselves in a time crunch, where we were moving out of our house and into a new one, with an incoming renter moving in sooner than anticipated. Lucy's was quick to reply, communicated clearly, accommodated our needs, and did excellent work. The cleaning exceeded my expectations, leaving the house ready for the carpet cleaners and painters to come in next. Thank you!

There were some recurring stains that I couldn't get out with my carpet shampooer and the carpet was matted down. Tomazin got the stains out and some difficult spots of stuck on stuff from the kids (dried on putty/goo) and made the carpet look like new again. They were quick and professional. Highly recommended.

Everything about our experience was great! We recently moved into a home where the previous owner did not take care of the inside and the carpets hadn’t been cleaned in at least 10 years. Not only was he able to get rid of the weird smell in the carpet he, removed most of the stains (we specifically asked him not to worry about the stains as most had been there for who knows how long and we are planning on removing the carpet in the next 6 months). Our carpet looks almost brand new and even the track areas that were worn down look better than ever. He was professional, stayed within my requested budget and it only took him two hours to complete the job. I will be recommending this company to all my friends and family.

Anthony cut out a large area of carpet that was stained, replaced it with some extra carpet I had. You can't tell that I ever had a stain. The work is professional and very well done. He was fast, neat and polite. I would hire him again.

Sam did a great job repairing & covering the hole in my ceiling! He was courteous & friendly. He told me exactly what he would be doing. - the only reason I did not give him 5 stars - was due to the plaster got on carpet stairs & I had it took me 30 min to clean up. He offered, but it was the day b4 Thanksgiving!🦃

Victor and his helper did an excellent work installing custom carpet in my house. He efficiently performed all related tasks such as pick up, delivery, carpet removal and disposal, installation and cleaning. I was very pleased, indeed. Another remarkable factor in my dealing with Victor was his great communication skills and responsiveness to my telephone inquiries. He was informative, knowledgable and helpful. He even assisted me with choosing a competitive Carpet Outlet in Orange County.

This is the cleanest I've ever seen a carpet after a service. The technician was friendly, courteous, and respectful of my furniture and space. I've been told by many other carpet cleaners that most of the traffic stains were just not going to come out. Au contrer--Oxi Fresh has a very simple but great technology. And much of the carpet was dry in an hour but for a few of those 'traffic' places which he worked longer on, but still it dried faster than other companies. I can't recommend them enough.

Ramon was friendly yet professional when he visited to see what the job entailed. (Sanding and staining areas of wood floor damaged across 2 rooms and trying to blend them in with existing flooring.). He followed through with appointment date and written estimate. His workers knew what they were doing and surprised me with a result that exceeded my expectations. Ramon stopped by while work was in process to make sure all was going well. When he realized the work would be completed earlier than expected he had his workers tackle other areas not included in estimate to improve overall quality of the floors. I was thrilled at how they had blended the new with old so well. Ugly stains gone! I recommend this company wholeheartedly.

Alfred's team was great to work with. They were quick and professional and were amenable to changes we had. He initially said the floors would take 4 days and the team only needed 3. Would recommend him and his team for any floor install needs! We had nasty carpet and laminate throughout the house and the new floors look amazing!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.
