Introduction: I help Mac users get better acquainted with technology, in the SF East Bay area and via remote coaching sessions. My clients appreciate my patient, inquisitive approach, ability to meet them where they are, and that I provide the tools so you can learn to help yourself. I offer a blended focus on technology and people that might feel like therapy. I love learning from my customers as they share problems I've never experienced before. Some issues are easy to resolve while others take a bit of research and experimentation. Always, I appreciate your unique needs, preferences, and expectations about how technology should work for you, and I help you achieve a level of computing flexibility that accommodates them. Join me to learn the language of technology, build confidence, and become more self-sufficient. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I am available for masked house calls if you will have me. Biking to and from our appointments energizes me to do my best work, however I find meeting on Zoom is at least 80% as effective as meeting in person.

Ben was so very helpful. Patient in listening to my concerns but lightening fast/super smart in working with my computer and resolving the problem. He calls himself a "Computer Coach" which is much different and better than "Computer Repair"...because often it is not the case that the computer is malfunctioning...it is that someone (like me) may not know how to navigate the issues. He provided some good follow up to make sure that everything was working well for me. If you happen to book an appointment at his place, don't be put off by the shabby exterior of the house... and of course, he also will make an appointment to come see you at your home or place of business. I highly recommend Sustainable Computing.

Apple Computer Repair

I needed RAM installed on my Mac mini. Ben did this as well as troubleshooting for some minor problems I was having. He also explained some "whys" and "wherefores" regarding some quirks I was having with my machine. It was a very positive experience. He is a trustworthy and skilled person whom I would call upon again to work on my computer.

    I have a standard hourly rate. Please let me know if it doesn't work for you and we can probably find one that does.

    Most clients come with a list of questions and issues they want to address. We begin there and work together based on what's most important to you and/or what resolves your biggest frustrations. I'm usually very efficient with this part. Along the way, I learn how you use your devices and offer useful tips to improve your computing experience. Together, we discover additional areas of focus and I introduce behaviors and tools that can make you more productive or flexible with technology.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I read news throughout the week about the Mac world, business and technology services, and troubleshooting tips. However, most of my learning takes place on the job. Each user has a unique set of needs, preferences, and expectations about how technology should work for them. I learn from the problems my clients face that I've never experienced before, and the solutions I discover and implement.
