Introduction
My name is Juan. My lifelong passion for the game of soccer began at the age of 12 (later than most!) and stayed with me through college as a D-1 Student Athlete at CAL Berkeley. While playing soccer on a personal level has and will always be a focal of my life, I have realized that coaching others is where my true passion and calling lie. I have had the opportunity to lead a high school team to the North Coast Sectional State Championship while simultaneously coaching the HS National player of the year. I enjoy working with players of all levels, positions and ages (4-50+) I use technical drills and exercises to address weaknesses and emphasize strengths as well as make the mental aspect and strategy resonate with my students. I have first hand experience preparing players for tryouts (and know what it takes!) as well as increasing current players playing time. I want them to take what we do in our sessions directly to their games and see their progression! Players development is my specialty. Additionally, I am a certified personal fitness trainer, this background allows me the ability to further supplement soccer coaching with conditioning and strength training exercises geared specifically for soccer. When you work with me you can be assured that a truly comprehensive approach will be applied allowing for optimal success! I coach one on one, teammates, small groups as well as private camps for kids and their friends (rates vary upon size) As a side note if you live in SF please be willing to travel to Berkeley as I am not accepting any new clients located in SF currently. I worked with Juan for a bit over 8 months, twice a week at the start and then weekly. I am 70+ years old. My goals at the start were relief of back pain and increased strength. The back pain was gone in a few weeks from stretching and strengthening my core muscles. As my strength built up, I was able to be more active and hike faster up hills. I also gained the confidence to go on my own, using the techniques Juan taught me. I achieved my strength goals and was surprised to lose a few pounds in the process. Juan has a bright, positive view of life and many stories to tell. He was a pleasure for me to work with, even as he pushed me to lift more weight and do more reps. Juan was punctual, always contacted me if there was a need to change the schedule.

I have had many trainers around the East Bay and Juan is by far my favorite. He's friendly, always on time, and follows COVID protocols. He does a great job of tailoring our workouts to my specific goals. Juan also is thoughtful in working around some injuries I have. He gives me extra workouts to do on days I don't see him and nutritional advice, so I'm definitely getting the best bang for my buck.

After years of avoiding gyms and exercise, I started working with Juan as my personal trainer after I retired and decided that I had to do something to regain my strength, endurance and balance. From the start, Juan was patient, knowledgeable, encouraging and professional. He designed a workout program that fulfilled my fitness goals and more. After a month, I really felt a positive difference in my entire body. As a senior woman, I recommend Juan to anyone and everyone.

Juan knows the science and has the personal qualities of an an excellent trainer. He knows exercises for every situation. Also when to push or hold a client back for safety. Rapport matters to client and he established a good one with me right away. I would recommend him for clients of all ages and temperaments.

As a senior who had no gym experience, I was so fortunate to have Juan as my personal fitness trainer. He is very professional- always friendly and patient. Not only is he a good listener and encouraging, Juan is also highly skilled at determining what was needed to challenge and help me advance toward my personal fitness goals.
