Introduction: I graduated UCLA in 2005 on a piano scholarship (for jazz but I love/play/teach all styles), and for education specifically, I received the ETM Fellowship and The Gluck Fellowship. I've had my own private teaching practice for 15 years, as well as worked for KC & Friends, the Mindbuilders afterschool program in the Bronx, and as a classroom music teacher at Hooper Elementary in South Central LA.
As a pianist, I've recorded with Grammy winners like Ambrose Akinmusire and Ronnie Spector. I get along great with kids as well as older students, and have personally overseen many of my students go from absolute zero to reading Bach (or improvising, or different goals we set), within the span in 1-2 years.
I meet you where you are (literally, if you're near downtown), build on your skills and interests, and build a simple, graduated curriculum tailored to YOU, based on music you like. I keep it fun, so you'll look forward to your lessons and you'll be thrilled with your progress.
