Introduction: I graduated UCLA in 2005 on a piano scholarship (for jazz but I love/play/teach all styles), and for education specifically, I received the ETM Fellowship and The Gluck Fellowship. I've had my own private teaching practice for 15 years, as well as worked for KC & Friends, the Mindbuilders afterschool program in the Bronx, and as a classroom music teacher at Hooper Elementary in South Central LA.
As a pianist, I've recorded with Grammy winners like Ambrose Akinmusire and Ronnie Spector. I get along great with kids as well as older students, and have personally overseen many of my students go from absolute zero to reading Bach (or improvising, or different goals we set), within the span in 1-2 years.

At various points in time, my husband, my two sons (now 7 and 12) and I all studied with Billy. He is not only an incredibly accomplished pianist but a great teacher and a patient, sweet and funny guy. He taught us for more than 5 years. While my husband and I "fell off" pretty quickly, my older son stayed with it pretty consistently for all 5 years. Now he's a good reader, loves playing Bach and making up his own music (it's really good!) and my younger son was able to do read music and developed perfect pitch as a 3 and 4 year old. Unlike a lot of piano teachers, Billy was able to get my kids to practice without pushing -- he was able to help them find their own motivation and their lessons were always fun with lots of goofing off, jokes, stories, and asides. Great with kids and the recitals were always warm and memorable affairs. Can't recommend highly enough!

I am a pretty serious pianist myself but I'm a busy Mom so I hired Billy to teach my two sons. They are so different from each other but he was able to connect with both of them and I'm so grateful. My oldest, Franklin, is very studious so Billy got him on Mozart. My youngest, James, is more of a dreamer so Billy got him to write his own songs. After a few years, they are both proficient readers and composers. I don't know how he did it but Franklin passed an audition to a competitive arts high school in Manhattan. I even took a few lessons with him myself. He even helped save our house from flooding a few years ago. We were lucky to find him.

I have a 13-year old son who is a very special and unique kid -- Billy was a great fit for him and he saw and encouraged his uniqueness. He even switched from teaching piano to teaching him how to produce "beats" on his computer. Wow! My husband and I also enjoyed studying with him for a while. We really enjoyed the time we spent together. Highly recommend Billy as a teacher.

I studied with him for about a year. He was a very good teacher and patient . We learned how play standards like "That's All!" so I could accompany my wife.

Billy is a great teacher and a fantastic guy. He really helped my son come out of his shell. They studied all the phases of classical music from Bach to Mozart to Beethoven and my son loved every minute. Wonderful! He also helped us find a piano.
