David D. says, "I first met brock at very low point in my life. I was newly sober and struggling with deep depression. We met randomly at a trail running group in santa Barbara. We shared six miles on a really rugged trail and hit it off immediately. We started running together frequently and during our runs would openly talk about our respective lives. It was almost like excercise therapy. Brock would offer insight into my many fears and insecurities regarding staying sober and living life on life's terms. His positive perspective on life and emphasis on meditation were attractive to me and I began trying to emulate him and his practices. He encouraged me to channel my emotions into my runs and to view each run as an experience to be present in instead of some feat that needed to be accomplished. My runs became my form of meditation and were more therapeutic than I thought possible. I also began incorporating meditation Into my everyday life and trying to find the positive side of things in any difficult situations that would arise. I found myself leaning on him for support and seeking his mentorship more and more. His friendship was essential in my staying sober and in my ability to live life happily. He has always been available whenever I need support and even when I dont he frequently call and texts to check up on me. I consider him a great friend and a even better spiritual mentor."See more
