FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $25/hour for my time, which would include online meetings, but also any additional preparation and review that takes place (for example, if you want to send me an hour long video of you speaking and have me provide an evaluation and some guidance on how to improve it, it would be $25 for the hour watching and providing written or audio feedback). I am willing to work with someone on a long term basis for a lower rate with an up front payment, so 5 hour long sessions for $100 (giving you a $5 break per hour).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I believe that I have to get to know my client as a speaker. So, I would first ask for a video of you giving a speech. Even if the speech is in your living room, recorded with your phone, it will give me an idea of where you are currently as a speaker. I also like to get a feel for levels of anxiety, what the speaker feels their strengths and weaknesses are and what goals and deadlines they may have going forward.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Speech Communication and an MA in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Rhetoric. I have coached intercollegiate Speech and Debate for almost 20 years and competed successfully at the national level while in college. I currently teach and coach at both a 2 year community college and a 4 year state university.
