FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate for piano lessons is $100 for four lessons. The lessons are 30 minutes each and are held once a week.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As a music teacher I first ask a prospective student what his/her goals are. I like to know whether they want to perform at a recital or concert, whether they want to progress towards a more advanced level, whether they want to play the piano as a hobby or a career, etc. I then provide information about my availability, my rates, the materials I will be using, etc. Once the student expresses an interest I provide them an agreement to sign, along with a selected date for our first lesson.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began playing the piano at age 8, and I started composing when I was 10. I studied for several years at a music conservatory in Iceland, which included piano, violin, music theory and ear training. I earned my Bachelor's degree at California State University, Chico, where I also acquired a secondary teaching credential and taught 7th and 8th grade for several years. My background in music and my teaching experiences have given me the opportunity to enjoy working with students one-on-one and to share my love of the piano.
