Same Day Chimney Service

Thank you for your three-star review almost six months after we serviced your wood stove. We do not regularly work in your area and our technician agreed to travel the over one-hour commute from our location in Citrus Heights to Grass Valley only after you mentioned that it was very difficult for you to find someone to come out to your area. It was never our technician’s intention to “bail” five minutes away because “he didn’t like your road.” He only called when he was five minutes away from your residence to check in and see if there was a less rough and dangerous route to the property. Our technicians do not drive four-wheel drive vehicles and it is a difficult single lane road bordered by a cliff with many large washed-out potholes due to the weather. We are sure you can understand that we value the safety of our employees and always encourage them to proceed with as much caution as possible while on site. We are so happy to hear that you were very satisfied with our service and that the stove came out cleaner than when first purchased. However, we are very sorry to hear that you felt our technician’s inspection fell short of what was expected and caused you what you felt was unnecessary worry. The deteriorated condition of your chimney chase cover on the top of the chimney stack can safely and easily be seen from the raised ground surrounding the home and the rusted water trails running down the length of the chimney pipe inside the home are readily visible from the interior of the home. Both are visual indicators of damaging water intrusion from the roof. It is for these reasons as well as inclement weather on the day of the inspection causing difficult roof access that our technician did not feel roof access was necessary or prudent at the time of inspection. The cracks present in the refractory panels inside your wood stove and the open gaps found in the chimney pipe within the interior of the home are a few of the safety issues our technician brought to your attention as potential hazards for you and your family. As mentioned to you when providing videos and photos while on site cracked refractory panels can lead to fires and overheating of the exterior of the appliance and the gaps found in the chimney pipe can allow smoke and possibly hot embers to enter the living space of the home which can lead to a potential house fire as well as the inhalation of toxic smoke and gases from the fuel in the firebox. As chimney professionals with many years of experience in the industry, our intention is to always provide an honest and thorough inspection of the appliance on the date of inspection and not to gloss over potentially dangerous issues to protect the feelings of our clients.
