I started to build a treehouse at the request of my wife and kids ( we're "Treehouse Master" fans). I read several books on treehouses and treehouse construction in order buld a basic, but tasteful fort on two black oaks. Here's where Dave comes in: One tree was growing at such an oblique angle that there was no way I could build a study base. Dave came up with a terrific, out of the box solution. Now it will be rock solid for decades to come. With Dave on board, I could do things that would not have remotely considered doing myself; such as building an 8x8" octagon crows nest addition onto the main section. This was no small feat. Even though this was a "kids" treehouse, he paid great attention to detail. He made large, custom, watertight plexiglass windows for the crows nest. He also had great suggestions, such as using ebony stain along with a standard redwood stain, which created a spectacular spoke-wheel pattern on the octagon floor. Dave's presence was so liberating for me. I felt free to make unusual requests, as he would listen intently and execute flawlessly. For instance, I asked him to build a trapdoor/fireman's pole. he built to perfection and it woks great. When the trapdoor is closed, it blends seemlessly into the floor pattern. By the end, I think we created one of the best kids treehouse in the world, well beyond my original expectations. "Treehouse Masters" builds sophisticated, >$100 k, adult toys. Ours in custom made for the children, although our friends say we should have a party up there for the adults. Overall, Dave is a pleasure to work with, attentive, hard working, creative, and a master craftsman. I couldn't recommend him any higher. P.S. To see Dave's work, Google: "Ava's plea to Pete".
