My name is Len Coulter. I am a seventy-two-year-old retired teacher.  I first began working with Marcos in the fall of 2024 at the recommendation of my son. I was developing mobility issues due to poor fitness and no exercise routine.      I met with Marcos and discussed my immediate situation and initial goals. We began meeting two times for a week. Initially our sessions would lead me to sitting on the couch for the remainder of the day. Continuing to work with Marcos, things became better. In addition to working with Marcos, I began to walk my dog, often right after our sessions. I joined a gym and began exercising three to four times a week. Working with Marcos is a pleasure he is knowledgeable, works with you from “where you are at” with continuous development. I am delighted with the changes he has helped me accomplish. Marcos varies the sessions and his personality cause me to look forward to our sessions. He is very patient with my struggling effort of improving my diet. He has me off the ice cream.      Recently I had an experience that demonstrated how things have improved. My dog, a small Spaniel, was attacked by a Pit Bull on a walk. I was blindsided but able to step left and block the dog with my lower leg while extending to the right and pick up my dog. Six months prior, the outcome would have been a disaster. Marcos has been training my 90 year old husband who has dementia, balance issues and loss of strength. At times he had trouble getting out of bed. Marcos has shown that he is very knowledgeable and experienced in the field of personal training. Before I started working out with him I had no knowledge or experience about working out. He has taught me so much and he is educated in what he knows when it comes to training, working about, and the mechanics of your body. I was looking for a personal trainer to help me stay motivated and lose the weight I gained from being stuck in the home due to COVID. In just 2 months of training I've added on 10 lbs of muscle, and for someone on the skinny side, like me, that's big deal.   • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    A new client is taken through an assessment workout in which I measure their strength with different movements and exercises. I will then create an exercise plan based on the goals that they want to meet. I provide every client with a Polar watch that measures important factors for progress like heart rate, daily activity, and sleep patterns.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    I once had a personal trainer help me about 12 years ago and so I decided to pay it forward by helping a friend. I realized how much I enjoyed helping others achieved their goals by using the knowledge that I had about weight loss and strength gains. I later had an internship through my university helping athletes recover from injuries using different types of exercise modalities.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

    I recently took on a client that had never in her life lifted a single weight. She had only tried the cardio machines at the gym and had never gone beyond that. I started by introducing her to the basics of proper movement and form. Within a few weeks she was lifting the weights like as if she had been using them for years and was able to progress on her strength goals. She has gone from a beginner to intermediate level within weeks and is starting on advanced movements.
