Introduction: I have a true passion for what I do and I believe it comes through in the way I train. I know dog... From the shyest to the most aggressive, they respond favorably to me. But also, I am a people person. The key to reaching our goals is that the dogs' owners have the ability to replicate my interactions with the dog in order to maintain the results they desire. That's were my 24/7 support comes in. I say It all the time....I Love seeing a dog "blossom" ...It's so rewarding seeing the process of a dog shedding it's negative challenges, gaining confidence, and becoming the pup it was intended to be.

Todd is wonderful! I have 2 very different dogs in every way- size, shape, color, personalities, and demeanor. Todd is so friendly, he took his time with the dogs and gained their trust and now both my pups ADORE him! Todd really works to understand what your goals are and creates a training program around that. He wants you to feel comfortable training and being in charge. He has wonderful communication and send text messages (a total plus for me!) I am amazed at the difference in my dogs after a couple months of working with Todd. He really is Your K9 Guy, he gives you the tools and understanding in order to better help your pet. I feel incredibly lucky to have found Todd, who uses positive reinforcement in training. It is completely worth the investment - money and time. I have recommended Todd to other friends and would highly recommend him for your dog needs. He just has such a love for dogs, its fun to watch him work and see your dog come into their own.

Todd has been working with my dog Koopa for a couple of months now and Koopa absolutely loves him. Todd is an awesome, wonderful trainer for more than a few reasons. First, he has been very understanding of my work schedule and he does his best to work around it. Second, with my busy work schedule and being unable to take Koopa to the vet, Todd offered to take him for me which was way beyond what I expected from a dog trainer and just last week I couldn't get Koopa to go inside and I had to leave for work so I text Todd to ask if he can let koopa in and Todd happily did it for me. Third, he is only a text away whenever I have any questions or concerns at anytime of day. Fourth, he happily started training my other dog KK whom we want to interact well with Koopa. He takes his time to figure out the best game plan for my dogs. Lastly Todd is the most awesome trainer because he always brings my dogs the best treats and they love him.

So we hired Todd at Your K9 Guy to help us with a dog we recently rescued. Our dog "Jack", a mix breed Shepard, brought with him many issues that we didn't see initially. Mostly reactivity towards cars, bikes, kids..vacuums...etc. Also Seperation issues if we ever left him alone. After meeting with Todd we felt comfortable going forward in choosing him to help Jack...and us. Todd has a way with Jack that is pretty fabulous. Jack didn't trust many people...he trusted Todd after only a few minutes. Todd worked with Jack and our family with something I would call calm confidence for a little more than two months...So the short story is Jack is a dog again! He still does have some mild issues and we are using Todds methods and continue to see results. It great knowing what we now know. We don't live in a bubble any more because of the challenges Jack had. Thank you Todd. We are happy to recommend you.

Todd is not only a great dog trainer, but also a very kind and caring person. When we adopted/rescued our then 18 month old large dog, he came with almost no skills. The only home he had known was a dirt yard and an empty room in a house. Todd's training enabled our new pup to make a transition to our home doable. Now, at 22 months old, he is feeling right at home. In addition, when we suddenly had to leave town to attend a family funeral, Todd and his lovely wife boarded our two dogs and treated them like their own while we were gone. Todd also worked with our 7 year old dog to help overcome his fear of water. He is an experienced, intelligent dog lover who is always looking for the best solution to a dog's problem.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of the time people misinterpret dog behavior because it's our nature to view them through human eyes. So it makes it imperative for me to actually see the dog before I can diagnose the problem. I've been called in before for two puppies being aggressive when they were just playing and wrestling. And most of my behavior solutions are counter intuitive to what we do with other humans, but that's because I'm teaching them to "listen" to what the dog is saying.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    A. Make sure you are comfortable with the training method the trainer uses and that they have a firm grasp of canine behavior. If they misread a dog's body language, they could prescribe the wrong plan of action for you & your dog(s). Also, if you aren't comfortable with the trainer & his methods, you won't follow through & consistency is necessary for success with your dog(s)!
