FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In the past I was certified with American Council on Exercise. Also, I have taken human body education at the university level; human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. Most recently, I have finished my course work for a master's degree in counseling psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. I have one project to finish, to graduate. I am currently CPR & First Aid certified.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been in the fitness industry for 15 years. During this I also worked as an office administrative assistance. However, a few years ago I completely left the office position to go into a master's degree in counseling psychology and focus as a fitness trainer.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you have not exercised in a long time, it is good to know that there are two different kinds of physical pain when exercising; 1.) The muscles feeling warm, even burning, or that awkward feeling when you are moving your body in a very different way. 2.) A quick aching feeling or a deep fast pain in a certain muscle. If you are new to fitness training, the 1st physical pain is okay and is usually very good for you! However, if you experience the 2nd physical pain, it is time to stop immediately, reassess the exercise, and modify for the next fitness session. As a trainer, I look at your body form as you are exercising, and know how to keep you safe.
