FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
More often than not, I bid out my the jobs at package price. I shoot as much footage as is practical because I want options for editing. It is essentially an open ended process, lasting as long as time permits and is unsuitable to charge by the hour, most of the time for most of my clients.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I work to establish rapport with new customers. I find out something about them, gain an understanding of their needs/desires/purposes, ask questions and listen carefully to their answers. I might make suggestions or offer solutions if they are wanted. Some clients want to take charge and are sure of their goals. Many simply want me to free them of the burden of the task. I gladly work with everyone and support them; regardless of their level of expertise or degree of confidence.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned an M.A. in Film and Broadcast Arts from the University of Iowa. I worked as a freelance assistant cameraman in the Bay Area for 15 years on commercials, documentaries, industrial and feature films, before starting my own production company in 1999. I have been making videos for families, small businesses and corporations ever since.
