Working out with Kathy is time very well spent. A few years back I had a sports related injury which lead me to a long hiatus from my regular fitness routine as a trail runner. I began to use certain avoidance motions and postures to sidestep the pain involved with the injury. As a result of that (and very long work days sitting at a desk) I developed a muscular imbalance which manifested in a severe weakening of the knees. Sitting down became nothing more than a semi-controlled fall, getting up from a squat involved an act of God, and any type of fitness routine became an unattainable dream. Before the injury I was an avid trail runner - logging 5+ miles per day and loving every minute of it. I missed the strength and agility I knew when I was in that condition. The time spent hitting the trails was emotionally cathartic and the physical exercise kept my body lean and rather badass... I lost that routine to the injury for long enough that it allowed certain insecurities or fears to get a pretty tight grip on my psyche. I gained weight- a lot of it... I would get so frustrated with not fitting in my clothes and simply not feeling good that i would spring into a new fitness regime with unequaled fervor only to overdo it (of course) because i wanted SO MUCH to be back to that time when i felt so much lighter- physically and emotionally due to the therapeutic nature of pushing myself physically. I developed a pattern of self loathing, which lead to an "I'm going to do it this time!" mentality, which lead to pushing too hard too fast, which lead to another injury... Which then lead to more avoidance postures for fear of a re-injury. Which lead me to finally hunting down and calling in an expert. I realized that I needed someone to rein me in, and direct my intent so that I could regain my strength and fitness at a smart pace, and avoid any overuse or new injuries in the process. I also needed someone to understand anatomy well enough to develop the weak muscles (and determine which ARE the actual culprits) first to rehabilitate the muscle imbalance and not exacerbate it. I found thumbtack when I searched for personal trainers online - Had never heard of it but the premise was definitely intriguing. I chose Kathy for a few reasons: - Kathy responded quickly and asked pointed questions to try and ascertain what the root issue might be. (Most of the other responders just talked money, and avoided any further discussion about my specific needs) This was very important to me. - Kathy relayed some lessons/expertise she had learned/gained having worked with clients having issues very similar to mine. Which demonstrated that I would not be a guinea pig for her. - Kathy was clearly a no silly frills, get the right job done the right way the first time type of trainer. I could not have made a better choice! She very thoughtfully and systematically went about rebuilding my muscular foundation. She adjusts to *your* needs- and never puts you in a one routine fits all type scenario. Every workout we built more upon the developing foundation, but never OVER did it. Working with her I have regained so much confidence and trust in my body that I had lost. My capability grows everyday as I get closer and closer to feeling like myself again. I had Kiola raines as an instructor for an online fitness program . Kiola is an excellent instructor. She provided precise and clear instructions during each session, always explaining the reason for completing the movements as demonstrated in order to get desired results. Kiola makes the work fun and teaches with energy and enthusiasm. While my participation was via long distance , I still was able to understand all of the instructions and was able to reach my goals and my improve my overall fitness. I would recommend Kiola as an instructor- trainer to anyone that wants to improve their health and well-being. She is an excellent motivator !

Holly thighburn! I had the pleasure of taking Roshelle's mommy and me class and I felt it for days afterward. It was a killer. I did a lot of exercises I've never done before. She was super helpful and informative and helped me to modify all the exercises so I could save my sore knees. She also helped my with my twins so I could get the most out of my workout.
