FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First-time customers are $80/hr for labor; future work is $100/hr. Or we can agree on a price in advance. Parts and materials are billed at cost plus 20% for larger items only. Small supplies are included. You’re welcome to purchase your own parts, or I can assist with selection at $50/hr.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start by clarifying the project details and may ask for photos. I often provide estimates remotely or offer a free 30-minute in-person consultation. Once we agree on scope and schedule, I send a Service Agreement for signature before starting work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As the eldest son in a family of a single mother, I have been fixing things around the house since I was in middle school. Later, as a home owner, I have continued to fix most problems and make improvements at my own house and overseen several larger projects by contractors. While not a licensed engineer, I hold undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, and a Master’s in Environmental Science and Management. Before starting my handyman business, I worked as an Environmental Engineer, directing and managing hazardous waste cleanup projects. That background gives me a strong foundation in problem-solving, safety practices, and attention to detail, as well as a solid understanding of safer materials and methods that protect both my customers and myself.
