After making the decision to purchase solar I ended up getting 5 quotes. I was getting solar due to a leaky roof and wanted to bundle the two projects together. Alive Solar was the only company that embodied customer service and actually walked on the roof and found the leaky area before providing quotes.
At the time that I was getting quotes there was an approaching deadline to stay on the tiered rate structure. All 5 quotes acknowledge that it was a tight deadline but Adam and Alive Solar were the only ones to do anything to ensure we could meet the deadline. Without signing yet signing a contract they helped get some of the paperwork started to give me the best chance possible of meeting the deadline.
Once signing with Alive they did everything in their power to ensure our install went as smooth as possible. There were several hiccups outside their control (ie. SDGE being slow to perform inspections and SD Metro Credit Union requiring me to show up to get my loan moving as they were not responding to e-mails or phone calls). However in both of these instances Alive kept me up to date and followed up when they had information.
The install went smoothly and to plan and I am happy with my new roof and solar system. The system has now been live for about 2 months and I am producing just the right amount of power as was described to me. This matched my usage quite well.
Alive would be a great company to choose for your solar needs.

Across the board, everyone we worked with--the owner, the sales manager, the installation team-- had very positive communication and demonstrated they were there to help and not simply to make a buck and push the system on you. Installation team was professional, knowledgeable, extremely friendly and had the panels installed in less than 2 days; they even offered to paint and touch up the stucco where they put in conduit for the solar box. They were very professional and hard-working; definitely a highlight of choosing ALIVE. Adam, the owner, personally calls and e-mails frequently to ensure that the customer is satisfied and that they system is running satisfactorily. All in all, the whole experience felt positive; it never felt like there was some “catch”. The cost was a great deal, and ALIVE is committed to putting the customer first! ALIVE has my highest recommendation for a solar provider. The system is exceeding my expectations!

We made a decision to replace our roof after discovering a few leaks. We had approximately 9 different companies to evaluate our roof as to whether to repair or replace. We decided to replace. We chose Michael Shannon of Alive Solar & Roofing because they were more knowledgeable regarding our skylight and roofing needs. Once scheduled, the roofing crew showed up everyday until the roof was done.
They would clean up daily around the property and upon the completion of the job.They were through, professional, friendly, courteous.. They did an excellent job. Mike explained each step along the way. We also had their solar division remove and replace our existing solar panels. They also did an excellent job. Great customer service and very responsive. All in All they were a great group of guys. Would highly recommend this company. Fair and honest.

Alive Solar installed our system on schedule and on budget, in fact the final cost was exactly as quoted. Their time estimates were dead on as well in regard to permits, install time, and final approval to operate from SDGE. Overall the install looks and operates great. The sub-panel they installed looks better than the main panel as they patched and painted the stucco to match the existing.
We're thrilled with the install from Alive and our only regret is not having it done sooner. I highly recommend Alive for solar.
