Brandon's bid was very f hair. (I had to ask him Do you see I'm in Reno? ) his team was coming over the hill from No. Cal . also on Labor day weekend. His 3 men were above and beyond exceptional. Dari, Kevin & Steven were courteous, professional & efficient. I was impressed with the care they use in wrapping everything and loading. I will post 5 stars and refer you to everyone I know. thank you Gary Gomez

Moving from oroville to san diego, ca. Frank and Will are very personable, responsible, fast and very hard serious workers. They went out of their way to make sure items would not be damaged during the transfer of furniture, car and personal items. My wife and I would highly recommend using Move with Caution and care. I hired Garibaldi Moving to move my small office to a new building a few miles away. The entire process was outstanding. The move was easy to set up online and the movers were on time, friendly and professional. They took care not to damage my stuff and worked quickly. Plus, the price was very reasonable. Thanks very much!

Excellent experience. Having used a number of moving companies over the past decade, CWM is exemplary. My reasons are simple: 1. Transparent and Affordable- I genuinely appreciated the all-inclusive rate (labor+supplies+gas) that helped me to predict my overall spend for moving. 2. Professional Service- The movers handled our belongings- particularly the wall art and 60" TV- with more care than even I would if I were able to lift those fat hogs. :) 3. A Small Business that Pushes the Limit: by comparison to other moving companies, CWM not only nips at the heels of larger competitors, but surpasses them with high quality service, affordability, and professionalism. It would be nonsense to move without considering CWM.

Do not hesitate to call G B Construction for gutter cleaning and replacement and leaf guards. They are prompt, quick, thorough, friendly and professional. Their charges are reasonable, and they do not upsell. I understand that they also do tile and wood floors, painting and household moving. I will be using them again and again.

Needed a cat door put in my wall to outside of house and just moving in my tools where packed. Got hold of Mike and he came out the next day. I showed him what I wanted and he did the job in an hour and a half. I'm really happy (no more cat box smell) and so are my wife and daughter. Thanks again Mike. Will call you again if I need anything else I don't have time or knowledge for a project.

Really great service: Les moved a piano for me, and took the time before the move to check out the property and the piano. He and his coworker dealt with a difficult job with good humor and a 'can-do' attitude, and at short notice. I was very pleased with the service and would recommend Les for any moving job!

Very nice guys and reasonably priced! They were punctual and made sure to give me ample notice via phone call of their estimated arrival time and of any changes in their schedule. They were super quick, and the job (moving/delivering a large couch for me) only took them 15 minutes from start to finish. I would highly recommend them!

After another Craiglist mover had to cancel last minute due to family emergency, I called James literally 3 hours before the planned move and he arranged for 2 movers to meet me at my storage facility at the originally scheduled time. I was able to secure a truck and they did the driving for me (HUGE relief as I can't imaging myself driving a 20 ft truck)My move involved 3 stops, and the final destination was on the 2nd floor. The guys were great!! Done in 3 hours! Worked non-stop, were professional, efficient and personable. James himself was extremely responsive and reassuring during my initial stressful interaction and speaks with you after the move to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. I will definitely use them my next move!

I hired Pat for a move from Fontana, CA to Berkeley, CA. He was incredibly kind and professional from the very beginning. His rate was significantly lower than anyone else. About a week before my move Pat was even able to lower my rate more because he found another customer moving to the same area so he could combine the moves making it cheaper for me. Not only did Pat exceed my expectations financially but he really went above and beyond his duties! I couldn't be present for the move because I had to go out of state for job training so I had to trust him completely to pick up my belongings from Fontana and deliver it all to Berkeley without my supervision. I didn't have the apartment keys to where I was moving in Berkeley so Pat even picked up the keys for me from the rental company and made sure they were delivered to me. I arrived in Berkeley from training an entire month after the move actually took place. I entered my apartment to find my bed already set up by Pat and my boxes organized. Nothing was broken ether which is something that always seems to happen when I hire movers. I have never even met Pat in person because I had to leave for training. I was only able to correspond with him through email and phone calls. For this reason I can say he is extremely trustworthy and I trusted him with all of my belongings. If you need to move then definitely hire Pat. I have moved a lot and I have never had a better moving experience.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
