Deepak catered our Wedding Reception this past weekend and he was excellent! Every one of our guests had something good to say about his food and service. He arrived on time to set-up and he & his team were very friendly & professional. I only wish I ate more if his food ^_^ Thank you Deepak!

Deepak did an exceptional job with my drop-off catering request for a small company holiday party. This is my first time using Thumbtack, and I received about 3 offers to cater my event. He was upfront with a cost, unlike other caterers who wanted to know much more before making an offer. I appreciated the transparent response, and he even offered to talk more to see if we could make more price adjustments, so I accepted to work with Himalayan Chef Events.
He accepted to prepare food with only 5 days notice - and then the company decided to push the event up a day. While I lost a few other services, including time for myself to prepare more for the event, Deepak was more than willing to work with the schedule change. I definitely do not suggest anyone do this to your caterer, he could have had another event and that would have been unfortunate and out of his control, but Deepak's dedication to customer service really shined through with that gesture. Choosing to come a day early meant driving in Friday traffic as opposed to Saturday traffic - from Fremont to Berkeley! Even for a drop-off request, he wanted to make sure that my needs would be met for this event. A truly outstanding man in the business.
Deepak deserves much praise for his professionalism and dedication - but that doesn't even begin to amount to the awesomeness that is his cooking! Oh man, that Gobi Manchurian had even my Indian Auntie - the one who cooks from home everyday and despises restaurant food - singing his praises.
Deepak doesn't cut corners or make food too greasy or buttery in order to impress guests. He uses whole spices, fresh ingredients, and precious time to make his dishes come to life. It really shines through his cooking. And by that, I mean be careful, because you can end up with a mouthful of whole clove like I did! If you've ever had great, homemade-style Indian food, then you recognize this as a positive sign. That mouthful was because I didn't start eating with those expectations. This is the way South Asian foods are meant to be made. Everything that was prepared was off-the-charts delicious. There are leftovers for dinner tonight. I don't think I've ever been this excited for leftovers.
The next day further justified the experience. Eating rich, creamy and greasy foods at typical Indian restaurants usually leaves me and my boyfriend with an upset stomach in the morning. This was not the case with Deepak's food. But today, the day after the event, I am still receiving praise from guests for the exceptional food. My experience with Deepak as a caterer was phenomenal. He has seriously given me no choice but to work with him in the future, because he sets the bar so high, any other service would be a gamble. He is very multi-talented as a cook, and has so many other cuisines to offer his clients, I may just have to throw more parties so that I can try them all! And now my guests are hooked. I left his cards on the table and there was only 1 of four or five left. Himalayan Chef Events knows how to make an impression. You cannot go wrong by choosing to work with Deepak.
