About
I began studying piano when I was seven years old and studied in Washington, DC until I graduated from high school. That year I also received the high school diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. To receive that diploma, I had to perform a ten-piece memorized program each year before a jury of piano teachers who were members of the Guild, and I was graded on my performance. It was a very demanding assignment each year, but well worth the effort.
On the college level, I studied music at Wheaton Conservatory, Wheaton, Illinois, and later at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Over the years, I have had many opportunities to teach in various places where I have lived and have performed in a number of venues.
I believe that I have much to offer as a piano teacher. I enjoy working with all ages and have been told by my students that I have the gift of patience. I have taught classical to popular music but will focus on your own personal needs and goals as I recommend music for you. I have an extensive knowledge of piano literature which helps in choosing the right music for each student. For the advanced student, I can offer my expertise in critical piano techniques and interpretation. My curriculum includes the teaching of basic music theory to each student which can be especially helpful if the student is interested in composition.
I am now only taking new students if they travel to my home studio. I am conveniently located in the center of Fresno in the Shaw/Maroa area with easy access off of Hwy 41. I have a very comfortable home with a beautiful grand piano which is pictured on my profile.

Elona has been very patient and encouraging to my 13 yo daughter. It was quickly evident that Elona is a skilled and experienced teacher. I especially appreciate that Elona was able to quickly assess my daughter's piano skill level and personalize the lesson to her needs. I look forward to seeing my daughter's piano skills flourish under Elona's teaching!

Elona is a wonderful piano teacher!
My husband had always wanted to take pianolessons... So I found Elona here in thumbtack. She was quick to respond and is so professional. Our lives are so busy and hectic with 4 young children and my husband is on-call at work 24/7... But Elona is very flexible with us and works with our schedule.
We are so happy we found Elona. In just a few short months, my husband can read music and play some simple songs!
Thank you Elona!

Elona is a master piano teacher. She has lots of teaching experience and has a great knowledge of the available repertoire for the intermediate and advanced pianist. In addition to this, she is understanding of how life gets busy. She is patient and encouraging. She is very thoughtful with a sweet nature. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with her and am excited to continue. I recommend her for any level- beginning children to the experienced adults.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Ask me about Senior discounts. I love working with Seniors.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My education and training includes private lessons during my high school years with a top professional piano teacher in Washington D.C., Eunice Green. With her knowledge and expertise, I was able to earn the distinguished High School Diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
During my college years, I studied piano with Reginald Gerig at Wheaton Conservatory in Wheaton, Illinois. I also had other music classes while there as well as organ lessons on their magnificent pipe organ. I later continued my piano studies with Verna May Felts at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. My bachelors degree is from Fresno Pacific University with an English/Communications major.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began teaching piano while I was in high school. My piano teacher at the time helped me work with beginning students, guiding me through the teaching process with that student. That instilled in me the desire and confidence to continue to teach on my own, which I have been able to do for many years.
