We love Tammy ! We have a 2-year old Aussie with pretty serious issues regarding: charging at the door barking (scaring guests), barking at random noises, biting (yikes! but yes.. many times to even friends and family), and leash aggression. We had 2 trainers before. One was at the prestigious Cali-K9 which was like training your dog to almost be like a police dog with a lot of consequences including pulling very hard on the chain where they want his two front feet to literally be lifted ( we didn't want to do this at all .. but we trusted them because of their amazing reviews )..this caused our anxious pup to become a very anxious dog, esp. to strangers... we then went with another trainer from Pet Food Express who was purely positive reinforcement. Here, she had him locked away in the room for months without social interaction in order to try to desensitize him and slowly introduce him back to people and triggers. THIS DID NOT WORK. If anything, his habits got worse and we forgot what it was like to even have a dog anymore :( We reached a very sad point, full of tears, where we discussed the fact that we might have to give him away but we decided maybe board & train was the next step. There are articles out there saying this method is not suggested because it might not be long lasting, or maybe the dog might just listen to the trainer and not you. Anyways, we came across Tammy and at first was very hesitant. As a millennial couple both working in high-tech.. we were killing ourselves over online research. Thumbtack wasn't a service I ever used before so I trusted other sites like Yelp & Facebook which Tammy didn't have too much of a presence on :( We did a bunch of research and even paid $100 for a consultation with Lori Hamilton - but it didn't feel right.. but she was still on our radar as another top option. When we met Tammy, she seemed incredibly sweet, genuine, & honest. As she is going full-time as a dog trainer, I knew she was going to treat our dog Finn as an individual and not just a number or revenue. She truly cared about his life and happiness. Eventually we made the decision to go with Tammy, reason being is because we know not everyone is as tech-savvy and we went with social media all-stars like Cali-K9 before which didn't go well.. so we couldn't judge a trainer just based on online presence. When we got Finn back from Board & Train you could tell how much he adored her. It was crazy! When she walked away he locked his eyes and body towards her. When she comes for our trainings now, our dog throws his body on her and rubs himself missing her. This is how I know she spent a lot of time with him instead of just shipping him off, and crossing our fingers that Finn was getting the training attention he needs. Forward 2 months, Finn is not perfect but he is x10 more manageable and we know what to do if he reacts in any way. He now goes to work with my boyfriend as an office pup, we aren't scared to take him downtown, he rarely barks at the Amazon dude (this could be fixed very fast before it happens). My boyfriend and I are so happy we went with Tammy now! She is the most patient person ever and I am so excited to have her integrated in our lives. She has helped us find so much different solutions regardless if its testing individual techniques or even supplements to help with Finn's anxiety. The greatest gift she gave us is the confidence that we are a great dog owner and that we also have the greatest dog! Put time and effort in your dog & Tammy will always do the same! We are continuing to board with Tammy when we go on vacations, so our relationship will definitely continue for a long time <3 (:
We have been sending our dog to Susan at Nu Pawspective for about a year now. Susan is an intelligent trainer with a "dog whisperer" instinct for dogs. Our dog loves going with Susan every day and always comes home exhausted and happy. We are thankful to have someone whom we trust to care for our dog as much as Susan does.
I had a meet & greet with Sonia yesterday; she brought her "pack" of dogs to meet my dog, who is sometimes aggressive toward other dogs. Sonia really seems to know her stuff, and gave me great advice on dealing with my dog!! And he behaved pretty well around all her dogs, thanks to her coaching! I was impressed!
John Butcher is the best dog trainer I have ever worked with. He knows dogs, in fact he "speaks dog". If you want to get your dog the way you want it to be take them here. It is worth every single penny.
Phoebe B trained our German Shepard dog and of all the trainers we have used she made the most progress in helping the dog to become more comfortable with different people and situations. She also took care of both our dogs and the dogs are very excited when they see Phoebe. Phoebe is very personable, open, and patient. We liked her a lot and had she not moved away from our area, we would continue to have her train and care for our dogs. She is also a very sincere and nice person! Would highly recommend her.
Lauren is probably one of the best trainer I have ever had for my dog. She is patient and comes up with unique ideas for training. I would not want anyone else traing my service dog. She believes in giving treats, and no raised voices when the dog does something wrong. Moki and I were extremely satisfied with Lauren and consider her part of our family.
They were the best dog trainers around. My dog failed out of 2 other places and I really needed help! Thank goodness we found off leash!
Jared took very good care of our 12-year-old but active border collie mix petsitting over the Thanksgiving weekend. He spent over an hour meeting our dog and discussing our dog's needs and routines. He let us know when he had arrived, and texted us pictures of our happy dog. Thanks Jared!

Dear Pet Owner, It is with extreme pleasure that I write this letter of reference for Laura Tait of Lauras Pet Services. I met Laura at a local dog park several years ago and since then she has cared for Milo (my Chihuahua/Terrier mix) many times. Laura is extremely responsible, dependable, and trustworthy. She has a true love of animals and is able to relate to each one on an individual basis. She is wonderfully patient and always loving towards Milo, who quickly became very comfortable around her. I feel she truly cares about animals and is genuinely concerned about their well-being. She has always listened intently to my instructions and is always willing to work with me to meet all of Milos needs. In addition to all the basic requirements, I completely trust her to administer medication and follow through with any special pet needs. When it comes to Milos health and well-being, I have complete confidence in her knowledge and judgment. Laura is an excellent communicator. She always does a great job of keeping me informed about how Milo is feeling and behaving. When I call, she often tells me about little, special moments in Milos day. She is very accommodating with changes in schedule, and I am always amazed at how quickly she returns my phone calls. She is very flexible and has never had to cancel on me. The longest time Laura cared for Milo was for 3 weeks this past June-July. The peace of mind we enjoy on our vacations knowing that Milo is being so lovingly cared for is invaluable. We are able to relax and enjoy the vacations we cant take Milo on knowing he is in the best hands. The happiness and contentment I see in Milo when we return is priceless. There is no one I would trust with any pet of mine more than Laura. She is a model caregiver, who truly cares for the welfare of all pets. Milo and I are happy to recommend Laura without qualification. I am confident that any pet owner would be fully satisfied with her services. Please feel free to call me if you would like a verbal confirmation of this letter. Dawn San Jose
Cannot find a more knowledgeable or caring dog trainer than Tricia. I took my Scottie and Min Pin to classes with Tricia for years until I moved out of the area. When I went out of town I would leave my dogs with Tricia to care for them, they loved her and her dog Zeus to death! The move made me appreciate her even more. Everyone comments on how well behaved my dogs are and I always attribute it to the best dog trainer in the country.
We got a rescue puppy. While adorable, she's got many of the behavior issues rescue dogs may come with, especially destructive anxiety. I've trained dogs before, and this dog has made me run out of ideas. Amy has consulted with me many times on ways to reduce her anxiety and help her with everything from getting the hang of potty training to not nipping at the kids. She has always tried her hardest and done her best. All with positive reinforcement methods too! She's taken on tough cases and doesn't give up. She's great at coaching owners too so we can genuinely help the dog. If you're not working with Amy, you don't have the best - yet! Give her a hollar!
I went to several different dog trainers for my crazy dog. And she was the only one that could get him to stop his unusual habit
Zoom-Room Campbell is the best! Always clean and packed with fun treats & equipment. Kim Rappaport is an excellent trainer. She is patient with me and my young Vizsla. I have learned so much and my dog loves our time training together. She uses positive reinforcement and my dog is always excited to work with her. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for dog training. I'm looking forward to starting agility training as soon as we get through our basic classes.
I have learned so much through Dallas! My dog can be very challenging at times, but with her hands-on help and instruction, I am gaining more and more mental control over him and am slowly becoming more calm and assertive. Being predominantly boxer, my dog is high anxiety - and unfortunately, so am I. I'd say training with her is not only therapy for my dog, but for me as well. I had not realized how sensitive my dog is to my body language; watching him with Dallas or even hearing about how he behaves with friends or family really brought this need to center myself to my attention. All of what we learned in training we can continue to use for years to come, but I also like that when I am feeling overwhelmed by him, Dallas is happy to step in and get me back on track and balanced. One thing that is very important for people to understand is that you get out what you put it. It is imperative to work with your dog on the skills you have learned and regularly. I must admit that I am not always perfect with this aspect of training, but because the skills you learn are not lost, when life settles down I am able to go back in full-force. If you are willing to put in the time, really *listen*, and make sure you understand what you are being taught, her training is worth every penny!
Review for Cally Davis Last Fall we adopted a 13 month old German Shepherd from our local Animal Shelter. I have had 6 GS companions in my life but none of these were adopted. All of them have been wonderful Canine Citizens and two of them involved in various 'therapy work' with people. One reason I adopted a German Shepherd: this was my way of thanking this breed for bringing so much joy into my life. I wanted to take care of one who otherwise might not have life in this world..and share the joy of canine-human companionship with her. However, it only took a few weeks for me to realize that bringing in a young dog, whose history I did not know, was very, very different from raising and training a puppy 7 - 9 weeks old!! From both her scars and her behavior, I realized she had been so abused & unsocialized that my main priority was to offer her unconditional love and the certainty of a Home here for her. After three months, I realized that unconditional love is not enough - Coco needed guidance to help her rethink her responses, collaborate with the humans caring for her, and make her needs known without being destructive of household objects. She needed specific help to overcome her intense anxiety and fear of people..and occasionally of other dogs. Being a young German Shepherd she also needed lots of good exercise. Unfortunately, she came into our lives at a time when our own usual rhythms were radically interrupted. My husband was in the hospital and rehab for four months....this occurred six months after she came into our family. All the previous work I had done with her starting rapidly slipping away as she wondered if she was being abandoned and she began her frequent attempts to hide under our house. It was about the time my husband returned home that I met Cally Davis....she was recommended to me by one of my Vet's Techs who also told me that there would be times when Cally would want to have her own dog (Amber) along in both the teaching and exercising sessions with Coco. I started not to call Cally because I did not want Coco to have to compete, with another dog, Amber, for Cally's attention....and what a mistake that would have been!! The combination of Cally and Amber as Coco's Teachers is just superb. Not only has Cally introduced and taught leash etiquette, good social skills, and how Coco can moderate her own excitable behaviors; the combination of Cally and Amber have allowed Coco experiences with another dog-as-teacher that are invaluable. I no longer worry about taking Coco to dog parks or in spaces where we might encounter other dogs, children playing, and great commotion as one can experience in the County Parks here in Santa Cruz. Under Cally's tutelage, I actually look forward to training sessions that involve real challenges for Coco in learning to trust other humans and dogs; learning not to be fearful when some new 'event' happens in her life. She's a smart dog and, through Cally's work with her, she has learned to use her intelligence in ways that benefit her and make her experience in the world a joyful one. In essence, through Cally's work....and my own follow-through with this work: now Coco walks easily on leash, responds quickly to my requests of her, and has a comfort level in the world that I worried she would never gain in any place other than within our home. I can take her...and I do...everywhere I go and know she will be fine; and others will enjoy her company! She is more than fine!: Coco receives many positive comments about her 'way of being,' rarely do we go anywhere that some stranger doesn't make the observation equivalent to: "What a smart, wonderful dog.." It is quite clear to me that the profound changes in her are due in large part to her work with Cally - as well as with Cally and Amber! I especially recommend Cally for those people who have adopted dogs and are unsure of how to read their dog's behaviors or how to assist their dog in making changes that are necessary if this adoption is to prosper both the Canine and the Humans in the 'Family Constellation.'
Lillac Komanski is an excellent dog trainer! Whatever problems we are having with our dog, she teaches us just what to do to resolve the issue. We have been using her services for years and continue to be extremely happy with her work!
