I participated in online prep with Christine for the SAT & ACT, she was truly an amazing teacher. It was as if we met in person twice a week! She took the time to make sure I was understanding the subjects and made sure to not end the session until all the my questions were answered. I highly recommend online tutoring with Christine if you're looking to be successful on the SAT & ACT. I even scored a perfect score on my ACT too!
I have been extremely happy with the tutoring and coaching I received from Arbor Tutors to improve my GMAT score. My overall GMAT score was stuck in the low 600's (and I struggled for months to get it there) but quickly improved to 700s after receiving insightful diagnostic of my strengths/weaknesses followed by a large number of specific tasks to improve my weaknesses. I'm still shocked with the ease and speed with which my tutor was able to help me improve my score. Don't get me wrong, you will be given a large amount of work but the work is focused on what will benefit you the most and help you improve quickly. I strongly recommend tutoring from Arbor Tutors if you are looking to make major improvements on your score. I took a highly regarded GMAT prep course first and although the course was excellent, the personalized training, test taking strategies, in depth explanations, and coaching from Arbor Tutors was orders of magnitude better. I also echo the comments of previous reviewers: Arbor Tutors is invested in your success and provides a wide range of unique resources tailored to your needs to help you get a score far above your expectations. I honestly never thought I had a real chance of scoring above a 90th percentile on the GMAT but Steve at Arbor Tutors showed me how to make this reality.
Grace Wang is my Mandarin tutor, and I have been taking private lessons with her for many years, first for SAT II Chinese prep and then for advance reading, writing, and conversation. Grace has always been very fun and approachable, and we have a great time conversing and reading about a wide range of topics such as Chinese history, idioms, and daily life. Her own understanding of Mandarin is very strong, and she takes the time to explain the nuances of the language. She also utilizes many different resources: online learning tools, textbooks, novels, etc. Most importantly, Grace is very patient, knowledgable, and flexible. I can suggest any kind of material to review for our classes, and she will always have insightful things to add. I always look forward to my Mandarin lessons with her!
My experience with Score Beyond was incredible. With the help of my well qualified tutor I feel much more confident to do the SAT's and I'm sure I'll do well on the test.
Yevgeny tutored my son for about 6 month to prepare him for SAT Subject test Math 2 and the Math portion of SAT. My son liked his style of teaching - giving small hints to guide him to find the right answer. In addition Yevgeny was able to explain complicated mathematical concepts in simple words. I strongly recommend Yevgeny as Math tutor.
Sowmya has really helped both of my kids in Math. She knows the subject very well and explained thoroughly. She is also encouraging. She has given them both confidence and the ability to do better in their tests and daily lessons. I would recommend Sowmya.
Angela really helped me improve my SAT score! I worked with Angela for three months before the December SAT. Together, we went from 650 on SAT Reading to 750. It was an amazing improvement and I am so happy for my experience with Angela. She is really knowledgeable about the test and knows tips and tricks to help you read faster and more effectively.
Bryce is a wizard when it comes to test prep. I hired him to help me improve my LSAT score and I was shocked at how quickly I was able to progress under his guidance. I’ve always been that guy who thinks “I’ve never been good at standardized tests, no matter what kind of help I get”. Working with Bryce turned that notion upside down. He showed me that the LSAT isn’t a labyrinth of mystery, but rather a puzzle that can be unlocked with the right tools. He was entirely right. Bryce utilizes a very easy-to-understand approach, breaking down each section and each question type into something concrete and understandable. His methods not only work when applied to the test, but he strives to make sure you understand them. Since the LSAT has patterns and attempts to use the same methods to trick you, many of my conversations with Bryce involved making sense of a certain style of question, understanding it commonsensically, and then realizing that it wasn’t all that difficult to arrive at the right answer once you removed the haziness of a foggy LSAT brain. We often used golf and other sports analogies to help make sense of the arguments. I found those analogies to be incredibly helpful because they put the LSAT into terms that I was already comfortable with. After working with Bryce, I improved my LSAT score by 8 points in a few months. But, besides a better LSAT score, I am really indebted to Bryce for helping me to think more clearly. Ultimately, Bryce’s method leads you to becoming supremely inconvincible, so that your brain will immediately spot flaws in arguments you see on TV, from your friends or family, or wherever else you find them. Now, I am naturally spotting holes in arguments and I am a much more inquisitive reader. These skills are phenomenal for the LSAT but will serve anyone well in law school too. I would highly recommend Bryce as an LSAT tutor!
Susanna has tutored my son starting for his SAT prep initially, subject Math and AP Calculus later. Her coaching is very effective and have the scope well covered, I'm also impressed with how she follows up the progress and encourge my son alone the way. We are all very happy with the outcome !
Mr. Ron Pong is an outstanding tutor. He taught me calculus, but he has mentioned that he can do variety of subjects too(both math and science). His enthusiasm in teaching has made me want to know more about calculus. His has a high standing teaching skills because he can do both visual and audio method of teaching. He also prepares you for the AP exams and also in-class tests/quizzes. I am very glad to have him as my tutor. I got an A in my class and a 5 on my AP exam.
I hired Alex to tutor me on the quantitative section of the GRE. I had already taken the GRE twice and was looking to increase my score from a 161 to at least a 165. We met 7 times for 1.5 to 2 hour sessions. Alex was great! She set up a very intensive study plan for me and was very flexible about when we met! I ended up increasing my score to a 167 when I took the test! I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their GRE or GMAT math scores!
Ian has been tutoring my son in advanced geometry for 9th grade. He is patient and comes to the tutoring session prepared. I think that is key to being a great tutor is to review in advance what they will be teaching so the teaching time is well spent. My son enjoys working with him and believes he is doing much better. We've so far had 3 sessions with Ian and my son's first big test is tomorrow and we expect his grade to go from B to A.
Amanda was the only reason I passed my high school math classes. I struggled with courses such as algebra, geometry and pre calculus, and Amanda was excellent as a tutor. She was very patient with me, even as my teenage hormonal self was on the verge of a meltdown every time a test came around. I honestly could not recommend her more, she is awesome!
Along with knowing great testing techniques, Emma went above and beyond by working with me to come to the proper solutions for the practice questions I was working on. She was personable and ultimately made me feel confident in my ability to rock this test!
Adam was my TA in freshman physics at Purdue. In short, there's no way I would have done as well as I did without his help. He provided a great mix of making sure I could do the assignment while also actually understanding the material better so I wasn't so lost on tests.
I am a recent Wellesley College graduate who was looking for a tutor to tighten up my physical science section on the MCAT. The first time I met with Clark, I was impressed that he took time to understand my strengths and weaknesses before delving into subjects I wanted to work on. He asked me questions about subjects I thought I knew well only to find room for improvement. During our meetings, he focussed on how I learn and pushed me to understand details I previously neglected. He had the intuition to know whether I truly understood the material. Most importantly, he pushed to see if I had the knowledge required to answer MCAT style questions. His quizzing ensured that I could quickly answer questions I struggled with in the past. Not only was Clark well-tuned to the MCAT and the details one must know to get a good score, but he had numerous resources that were extremely helpful. He has very extensive and very helpful notes on practically every subject in physics and chemistry. These notes were of particular use when I was out of town working an internship in Chicago. While I was out of town, I still wanted to work with Clark. He was flexible and agreed to tutor me over Skype. We used google documents to draw diagrams in order to discuss problems. After working with Clark for two months, I already sense an improvement, not only in how much I understand the material we have reviewed, but also on the way I approach the typical MCAT-type problem. When I recently took the MCAT, I felt prepared. I cannot stress how important it is to feel prepared on your test day. Having a tutor like Clark can make a world of difference when you sit down to take the test and you realize you know the answers to the questions you are being tested on.
By working with Mahama, I had not only been able to complete my work well but also understood concepts well enough to bring my best performance to tests. Overall very satisfied.

I provide English and writing lessons from elementary through college. I also teach science, biology, chemistry, math, French, Spanish (elementary through college), study skills and test-taking, SAT, and other test preparation. I help students analyze problems and use inference and deduction for both reading and math. I teach math (up to trigonometry, algebra I and II) in a very conceptual way so they can generalize basics and apply to higher math. I start from where they are and help them fill in gaps, using inquiry, along Socratic lines, but also real world learning. Everything but the "discovery" method.
