Nick found the problem with our 20-year-old Maytag washer quickly. The cost of the part needed for repair was too much to spend on a washer of this age so we decided to buy a new one instead of repairing it. But we were impressed with Nick and will call him for future repairs of our appliances.

Same day service. Technician came out and assessed problem in 15 minutes. Decided not to use service as the brand covered parts and it would be less expensive using LG company service repair. I paid only for the service visit.

I had a problem with my LG refrigerator. The problem was with the temperature. Two different companies tried to fix it, but the problem came back. So I found Arman Appliance Repair on internet, and they had very good reviews, so I decided to try them. And I am so glad I choose them. It's already 2-3 month my refrigerator working fine. After fixing the refrigerator the technician offered me to take a look to other appliances to see if they work good for free. I will call them again in the future if I have any appliance problem. Excellent customer service, very fair prices and fast service.

Hector made several electrical and plumbing repairs/installations at our home (inside and out), which included rewiring the recessed lights in the ceiling (which were flickering) and related drywall repair as well as repairing a leaking toilet. He also fixed a short in our bathroom light fixture, replaced a sprinkler valve and installed a new shut-off valve on an exterior copper pipe leading to the sprinkler valve. Additionally, Hector kindly offered to replace an electrical outlet and fix loose electrical outlet boxes for only the cost of parts. Hector is respectful and a mild-mannered professional. We have several other home improvement projects in mind and look forward to working with him again in the near future. Honest + Reasonable Prices + Quality Work = Highly Recommended!

Hector at Ace Appliance provided excellent and fast service and excellent work quality. My compact sized kenmore dryer broke down months ago and needed to be replaced. Hector diagnosed the problem, found the replacement compact dryer/washer by the next morning and came back the following morning with the new dryer/washer and installed it for me. All taken care of quickly, professionally and excellent quality work with no hassle for me. I highly recommend you hire Hector at Ace Aplliance for any appliance work.Hector is very responsive, shows up on time, is honest, hard working and says what he’s going to do and does it within the time frame he tells you and he does an excellent job at a reasonable price. I will definitely hire Hector again for all my appliance repair needs and will recommend him to anyone I know who needs his service. This was also my first time using thumbtack and glad I did. Hayk responded very quickly to my request for service and came the same day (after hours!). He immediately diagnosed the problem with both my washer as well as my trash compactor (no repairman has been able to figure out what was wrong with the compactor for over a year!). Fixed everything very efficiently, was very reasonable; professional but also very friendly! I will hire this company for all my appliance repair needs and have already referred him to my friends! Thank you Hayk!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
