I have tried several cleaning services but NoSpot Cleaning Services has been the best by far. Their booking system is convenient, they are efficient but meticulous and they are friendly and contentious. From the cleaning crew to the customer service and their General Manager Joaquin Saldana are just exceptional. I have nothing but great things to say about them and I will continue to hire them for future cleanings and will also recommend them to friends and family.

We chose Kevin to fix a kitchen faucet and couldn't be more pleased with his service. He had to make two different trips to our home because the replacement part we provided him on the first trip was defective. With a new part, Kevin was able to quickly make the fix and stuck to his original price quote even though we had used nearly double the time! He checked everything for leaks before he left and urged us to call him if we had any problems. He was efficient, respectful, and clearly focused on making sure we were satisfied with the completed job. We would not hesitate to hire him again!

I hired Casiano's to replace my kitchen faucet. The faucet was making noise and then water spray got clocked. I had already purchased a replacement faucet that was recommended by my HOA, so I just needed someone to come and replace it. I wasn't able to be present, but my renters liked that setup was friendly and professional. When I arrived to inspect the work, I found everything as good as new. I also appreciated Casiano's flexibility to accept payment via PayPal. This allowed me to not bother my renters with payments, inspect the work afterwards and pay without scheduling further visits.

Hired David, very honest in the quote and explained what needed to be done. I needed some baseboards replaced in my foyer, and the baseboards in the living room and dining room needed to be properly installed since my HOA sent their installers and they were terrible (HOA had to replace my hardwoods and the installers laid out the floor fine but baseboards looked terrible). He made a visit and inspected the areas, gave a quote and showed up at scheduled day/time, got to work and a few hours later the place was good to go....great job. I believe he is based in Southbay but covers the entire Bay Area. Any general carpentry/handyman type stuff, that you can't handle or just want to get done, I would recommend him.

Erika and her assistant are superior cleaners who provide the highest quality service. They just did a deep cleaning for me and my house is like brand new, sparkling clean and fresh. It is so clean that even the air is clean -- no visible dust or fur floating in the air that we usually see (we have four cats and a dog). They did a fantastic job cleaning all the tough dirt that no one would want to touch, such as the toilet bowls and sticky caked-on grease on the range hood and stove top. They even figured out on their own which bed sheets to use when I forgot to place the linens on the bed for them to change the sheets. They are sweet ladies who are professional and hardworking and such a pleasure to work with. I have hired them to do bi-weekly cleanings going forward.

Thank you Blue Bird Commercial Cleaning! We have a pretty large restaurant that can seat up to 300 people, and they took on the daunting task of deep cleaning our kitchen. They made sure to do a through job and came back to clean even more. They were also very flexible with our schedule. We will definitely be using them again!

I contacted Cyndy's Cleaning for move-out cleaning of a home I was renting. They were able to squeeze me in the week that I called, working around my schedule. Cyndy and Alex did an incredible job cleaning everything in the house, including surfaces I hadn't touched in the 8 years I lived there (overhead light fixtures, kitchen hood, out of the way crevices). Everything was sparkling! In addition to their amazing cleaning skills, Cyndy and Alex were very professional and pleasant, and their rate was much better than other companies I received quotes from. I highly recommend Cyndy's Cleaning!

Alex did a fantastic job with our plumbing needs for a major kitchen remodel. He also hung the new hood and did new duct work for that. His pricing is fair, the job was finished when promised. He was very conscientious and always cleaned up completely. I can highly recommend Alex's services.

A+++ LEGENDARY, LIFE-CHANGING SERVICE!!! SANDRA IS FAST & THOROUGH, PROFESSIONAL, PUNCTUAL, FIRST-CLASS, EXPERT & THE BEST!!! Sandra pays ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS!!! (i.e: organizing the drinks & fast food sauces in my fridge, washing the fridge drawers, the top of the fridge, the dust on my window blinds & organizing the millions of bobby pins all over the place by type :) Sandra and I do not share the same first language, but I've had no problem communicating with her in English via text message WHEN SHE IS AT HOME. [NOTES]: - try to keep the initial communications short & simple... communicating with her in person is much easier (at least for me), using an online translation app & body language :D - be sure to setup an EXACT time & location to meet ahead of time (in SF be EXACT - like a restaurant or "trashcan by the parking lot" :) - Sandra is MOBILE & her CAR is FULLY LOADED with professional, industrial supplies & equipment - EVEN A JETPACK VACUUM!!! - she charged me DIRT CHEAP rates (~40% of other Thumbtack bids) that would not even be considered legal, so I tipped her 200% No, I am not related to Sandra. No, I did not know Sandra prior to Thumbtack. If you need a reference, please do not hesitate to contact me: www.linkedin.com/in/LorettaRules www.facebook.com/Loretta1982 SANDRA RULES!!!

We recently inherited our brother’s beer garden which he operated for 5 years. Suddenly we were in charge of everything. It was time for our hoods to be cleaned and we had just fired our janitor. We twice attempted to hire the company that cleaned them in prior years. But they stood us up at 5 a.m. The clock was ticking. Enter Jonathan, the BACT owner. Jonathan is a warm person who is passionate about everything in the restaurant business. As an experienced Chef, he is uniquely qualified to tackle any kitchen project, even ones you may be unaware of are necessary to operate a streamlined, cost-effective restaurant. We set a few appointments with Bay Areas Cleaning Team to clean the hoods. This time, we had to cancel due to other circumstances. They understood. Then the health inspector was due. We called BACT again. Despite our prior cancellations, they were immediately responsive to our urgent need for a thorough hood and stove cleaning. BACT was timely, worked diligently and efficiently overnight to clean the hoods and stove. The inspector arrived and after 1.5 hours of inspection, all BACT’s work was perfect! It really helps to have a sparkling kitchen. We are now regular customers of BACT. We can sleep at night confident that all the kitchen equipment is clean and safe in BACT’s hands. We highly recommend BACT, just don’t take our spot! – Phyllis Voisenat, CEO, Moxy Beer Garden

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

      • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
        • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
        • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
        • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
      • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
      • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.

How much is commercial window cleaning?

The national average cost to clean windows is $120-$170. Typically, window washing for commercial spaces costs less per window than residential window washing, but has a higher overall price because the greater number of windows. Commercial window cleaning companies may charge a standard rate per window — for example, $3 to clean the exterior only, with a higher rate of $4 or $5 to also clean the interior. There may be an additional charge, such as an extra $1 per window, for scrubbing off water stains or deep-cleaning window tracks. Double-hung windows require more labor and will therefore cost more to clean. Companies may charge a flat rate, such as $8 per double-hung window or $9 per French door, to account for the added work. Building height will play a factor in window washing costs. Standard cleaning for one- and two-story buildings will typically stay within the same range, but cleaning high-rise windows may entail special safety permits and equipment, which would increase costs. Your location will also affect window washing costs. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost to do business will have lower window cleaning rates than large cities.
