Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I really love math and physics (in particular, calculus and quantum mechanics were my favorites). I looked forward to my homework and found it very relaxing to get deeply involved with a challenging problem. I strive to give my students the good habits and curious outlook they need to see the fun and beauty in mathematics, and teach them that you'll have more fun and get the right answer quicker if you don't let anyone rush you (except the SAT test clock, part of a long tradition of students frantically solving equations and writing essays for a nearly meaningless number that has the illusion of predicting your future success. I got a 1500something and I'm STILL working on that Nobel Prize) The great feeling I get when just the right example, explanation, or exercise helps a student to suddenly understand a new concept. It can take a few sessions to happen, but I find it particularly rewarding when somebody who starts off saying "I hate math" eventually says "That problem was fun!" It's nice when a job ends, not because the class is over, but because the student is now confident in their own skills and doesn't need my help anymore.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

If you are a reliable client, committed to learning, I will help you at whatever price you can afford, and this policy will continue unless my phone is ringing off the hook with tutoring requests. I need to live, but I don't want money be an obstacle to you getting the help you need.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Setting up email. How do I do this integral? How do I get rid of all these pop ups? I never use iPhoto, can it go hide somewhere? How can I open Word more quickly? Is there an easier way to do these problems? I need a new hard drive and more memory for my laptop, also, I spilled a milkshake in the keyboard. (That'll be 100$ to clean it or 35$ to replace)

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Don't hire me the night before a final exam! (There will be a 20$ "cramming fee") Just kidding, I've helped plenty of clients the night before the final, but tutoring works a lot better if you put in a few hours per week at the first sign you need help.
